Star Trek covers EW

You can't have possibly missed it if you were keeping up with TrekToday, go back and look for titles mentioning Orci. I'm not going to do all your reading for you.

No.
Everything I've read Orci say has said that they would be mindful of canon and all that crap. Not once have I ever seen a quote attributed to him uuse the word reboot.
Where does he say it?

He has said both, and they are not mutually exclusive. Try to find it yourself, I'm not doing you any more favors, cap.

The burden is on you to prove that he did use the term reboot.

Dude, let it go.

Whether he says it or not makes no difference.

The only thing the matters is whether you go to see the movie or not. You've said several times that you will not. The rest of us are prepared to give up our money, we are prepared to take that chance.

If we are wrong, then so be it.

You are fighting a cause that, whether right or wrong, no-one else supports.

We are all going to see this movie, at this point - nothing we say will affect this movie. Its done. Its been shot. Its in the can.

Let it go.

You said Orci has referred to this movie as a reboot.
I will be more then happy to be proven wrong about this, if you'd just provide a source.
I never once heard that he did say that.

Nope, you need only read, my friend. Enjoy. In any case I've already blown you out of the water with one example. So piss off.

Some of us are paying for tickets so friends will go see it as well.
After the latest pics, I'm up to 10. I'm hoping after the trailer, that jumps. :D

J.

Well, tell me where to read, then.
Back up your claim, genius.
I'm not going to just take your word for it.

Are you fucking dense?
What about this goddamn picture doesn't say "reboot" to you?
Abrams and his pals are too damn chickenshit to just admit it.
No, they think they are so clever trying to fool longtime Trek fans into thinking it's not a remake or whatever with BS like "alternate timelines" and crap.
They should grow some balls and just say so.
Don't try to bullshit us.
Um Orci said this is a hybrid Reboot/prequel hybrid over at donmurphy.net...
You're such a Hedgehog (only Murphyites would get that)

Quinto has said that he grew his hair out and dyed it for the role, so I imagine it's his. And thank heaven for that. I'm tired of the obvious wigs they've put on guest Vulcans over the years. They look an inch thick! That's 2.54cm for those so inclined. :D

Ok, thanks. Yes, I got sooooooo tired of bad wigs on Vulcans and bad wigs and bad nose jobs on Romulans

What genius in the TNG tv era universe decided every vulcan and Romulan must have the 'Spock hair' cut? Even in TOS, spock was the only vulcan with that hairdo!

Where is the exact quote?

And thus far there is no evidence - none at all - that there is anything more behind his "presentation." That "wounded cry" that he repeats appears to be it - all that there is. Nor is there a scintilla of evidence that the posts in question are intended to "foster debate." I think he's hitting the mark he's aiming at.

Nor do we have evidence that he is wrong. Although, I suspect he is.

If that bridge looked substantially similar to the one from 1966, it would have been something people could rub in his face.

But it doesn't. It looks very different. So for the moment, he has something to rub in our faces, instead.

That doesn't make him right. But the advantage is certainly his, with that bridge photo, anyway.

Seems to me that there are a couple of kindred souls down in the "Battlestar Galactica" forum whose montonous deliveries have been fairly unpopular. ;)

Point taken.

What makes MattJC more tolerable than those others, in my opinion, is that his frustration is with Abrams and Co., not with us. He doesn't take it out on the other posters around here. He doesn't have the holier-than-thou, you people are all slack-jacked drooling idiots for kissing Abrams' ass presentation.

He just repeats that same, tired frustration over and over again.

He's easy to ignore. He doesn't attack the posters or insult their inteligence. He's just hurt that he thinks they are lying to us. In fact, there's an argument to be made that he's worried about us being taken advantage of by that same lie, which is why he repeats it over and over again. It's a statement of his belief along with a warning to all other Trekkies. He's trying to help us!

Plus, if I'm reading him right, he's even okay with the idea of a reboot (assuming arguendo that's what it is), if only Abrams and Co. would be honest and admit it. So it's not so much the reboot that's the problem, it's the bait and switch.

Oh, who am I kidding. He's the easy target to mock. Have at it.

I too am surprised that there's not more negativity from others. Participation thus far may have been slightly depressed by folks tuning out of Trek altogether last evening to watch Obama and McCain swing their lirpas at one another (or not). Or maybe it will surface when they actually read Abrams' remarks about "Star Trek" in today's "Entertainment Weekly" article.

I think the oldsters are less vocal online than the youngsters, who tend to be more open-minded (whether they should be or not). The few, vocal hard-core oldsters are thinning in number but are strongly focused in their resolve. ;)

Everything.
That's what a purist expects.

That's what an idiot, out of touch with reality would expect in 2008...

I don't know what a Hedgehog is and I'm neither familiar with donmurphy.net nor going over there to find out, but can we knock off the name-calling?

Oh, who am I kidding. He's the easy target to mock. Have at it.
Eh, let's not, OK?
