Star Trek covers EW

I do not care what these idiots do with Trek anymore.
All I want is the truth from them.
Why is that so difficult for someone like you to understand?
No lies.
Just straightforward honesty.

Request denied. Everyone is really too, too busy to attend to what you want - and as much as there are others who aren't happy about the film, you are the only poster making these absurd demands on strangers who owe you nothing.

If they don't owe me anything, then what do they owe you for being their sycophant?

He doesn't even KNOW Abrams and Co., so how exactly does he qualify as their sycophant? Know a word before you use it please.

Who cares, there's always at least one relentless detractor. Overall the response on this board seems to be positive and that's what counts.

It may be a visual reboot, but so was TMP -- down to the look of the Klingons, and they didn't feel the need to explain that until ENT. A visual reboot doesn't mean a reboot storywise.

Well, he's kissing their ass, so he is a sycophant.

Yes, it does.

So TMP is a reboot?

TAS is a reboot??

Do you even know what a reboot is??

No, he agrees with their direction...just cause we all don't hate it and spent so much useless energy into bashing it as much as you do doesn't make people who like it ass kissers.

I think everyone at this point should just ignore his ramblings so the thread does not get shut down.

Abrams' piece of crap is a reboot.

I've asked you not to do that before, Matt. Cool it. Now.

Edit:
If they don't owe me anything, then what do they owe you for being their sycophant?

That wasn't very smart, either.

Chill out. Go outside. Take a long walk.

Longer than that.

Well-played retort sir. I see you are truly a man of logic and reason.

"A sycophant (from the Greek συκοφάντης sykophántēs) is a servile person who, acting in his or her own self interest, attempts to win favor by flattering one or more influential persons, with an undertone that these actions are executed at the cost of his or her own personal pride, principles, and peer respect"

Yes, it does.

There's more to Star Trek than bridge sets. Besides, we've seen so many different ones for the NCC-1701 and 1701-A, that we can handle one more right?

If you look at the NX-01 bridge and the TOS bridge, it's obvious that there must have been different bridge designs in between.

over 2.5 years after. and it was 'almost a totally new enterprise' according to the dialog, so it's easy to believe starfleet was taken over temporarily by designers who were enslaved by beige tones.

Aside from the TOS credit narration, Kirk's log entry in Shore Leave suggests that the NCC-1701 had at that point been away from Earth for an extended period of time, so it is perfectly natural to expect technologies and fashions to continue evolving on the home world while remaining comparatively static aboard a starship engaged in an exploration/combat mission along the outer periphery.

Strange how such common sense seems to elude some fans...
It's as if everything has to be spoon-fed to them and they refuse to use their own brains.

My post was not at all an attempt to excuse Abrams. I was simply rationalizing to my own satisfaction the visual differences between TOS and TMP.

The NX-01 and the NCC-1701 aren't the same ship now, aren't they?

What's your point? It's impossible to show an earlier version of the TOS bridge set and keep it up to modern 'futuristic' standards. That's simply the consequence of 40 years of technological advancement. It was to be expected from the start of the Trek XI project that we were going to have to suspend disbelieve when it came to the look of the film. Though I have not seen the film I choose to proceed from the assumption that if you want to make this film work in the broader Star Trek canvas, you can...
