Trying to figure out an episodes- Possible spoilers...

Hi- I think this was from a VOY episode... but I'm not sure. I think it involved a vulcan. But I wanted to throw up the spoiler alert because it involves the end of an episode. All I remember is hearing what the characters said- the visual part is out of reach- which is weird for me. Does anyone remember a character in ST that causes the injury- and death I believe- of a fellow officer aboard a federation Starship. There were extenuating circumstances- mental takeover, a disease or something, so the offending character wasn't *totally* responsible. In the end, the now cured character is speaking to a loved one of the deceased, and asks if there is a way in the grieving person's culture for him to attain or earn forgiveness. Sound familiar?

Sounds a little like "Meld" to me.

I checked out the ends of both of those, and I don't think they're the ones. Flashback for sure, but it wasn't in Meld either. The character does something rather horrible, in his compromised state, I'm sure he kills someone, and tries talking to the surviving mate... The line goes something like "Is there no human tradition I can take part in to earn forgiveness" "No, no there isn't" But Google isn't coming up with anything, so my quote can't be quite right. And its in my head, so its bugging me... I hate it when that happens!

Uh, this is just a stab in the dark, but could it be the TNG episode, "The Outcast," in which the genderless species, the J'naii sends that female... er, not-female Soren to the Enterprise and Riker falls in love with... it? I dunno, seems like that's what you're describing, though this is not Voyager nor is a Vulcan involved.

Y'know this isn't VOy, there's no Vulcan and none of the deceased's loved ones appeared but this sounds a lot like DS9's "Empok Nor" where Garak got an infection that turned him into a killer and he killed a couple of his Starfleet compatriots. At the end after being cured Garak asked Bashir to convey how sorry he was to the families and said he didn't think they'd want to hear it from him personally.

Just a shot in the dark.

There was an episode of VOY where Tuvok mind melds with a SF or Maquis prisoner and each picks up traits of the other. The prisoner ends up regretting his crimes. Someone here probably knows the name of the episode, I'm terrible with that.
Also did you try searching for your quote at Memory Alpha?

The details are quite different than you describe, but then again memory can be a tricky thing.

Maybe Repentance?

"Captain's log, supplemental. Warden Yediq has used his influence to convince the Nygean family to hear Iko's appeal for leniency."

Iko explains to the family, over Voyager's comm, that he is a different person. He will not beg for his life, and he is still willing to die to relieve their pain.
...
In astrometrics, Iko is gazing at the stars with Seven of Nine. Unfortunately, that's when the news comes in that the family has not reconsidered. He says goodbye, after asking Seven of Nine to look at him without fear one last time.

I know for a fact that its not DS9's Empok Nor- I thought it might be so I re-watched it... I'll look into the TNG one and repentance... The trouble is I can't search for the quote directly as I'm sure I've got the wording messed up... there's a word... something like ceremony... or tradition or something that was used... but its beyond my grasp. Argh... Still, you guys rock at this, thanks! Once step closer to getting a partial scene to stop revolving around my brain taunting me... :O

Transcripts!! Brilliant! It can't be The Outcast because there she doesn't ask if there is someway she can earn forgiveness or make up for what she's done, and that doesn't occur in Repentance either. I'm sure it was a VOY episode... I think... :(

Thanks for everyone's help!! I figured out what it was last night... but tbh I think I'm too embarrassed to say what the answer is... :brickwall: :alienblush: :(

Uh... this is a Star Trek message board. If there is one place on the Internet where it's safe to be a bona fide geek, it's here.

LOL True... but I thought it was ST VOY- I was *positive* that Tuvok was talking to Chakotay... but I was mistaken... :O

It was Teal'c talking to Daniel Jackson from Stargate SG1 *sheepish*
