Royal Who?

Australis

Writer - Australis

Surprised no one here's picked this up yet:

Like one of the comnets further down the page:

Now, who could he play?
Davros?
Dress him up in a Zarbi outfit?
Or invent a new character, the leader of in inbred aristocracy decended from a bunch of thugs and gangsters who maintain an antiquated lifestyle amongst great riches while the rest of the universe falls into poverty and chaos?
That's classic! :D

I assume he would have played himself in either Voayge of the Dammed, or possibly he would be king in Turn Left.

Nice to see that article. The version on the CBC site http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2008/10/13/drwho-prince-charles.html makes it look like RTD was insulting him, not making a joking reference.

Hmm... In wondering which was right, joke or angry response, I checked the BBC site. They don't even have it. They do have a brief about Ringo telling fans no more fan mail.

The thing is (and this isn't directed at you in any way) if this had been Moffat or anyone else saying it, no one would have considered it as anything other than the joke it was.

But looking around the old interweb yesterday it's clear that there are people who'll latch on to any comment the man makes to bolster their hatred of him.

Given that when The Sun reported that he's turned down a cameo, late last year, it seems pretty obvious that they wanted him to play himself in the Buckingham Palace bit of Voyage of the Damned.

Glad this didn't happen. Charles is a perverse human being and I'd hate to see him on my favourite show.

Down with the monarchy!

Loudon Wainwright II had it right:

Hey I say let's lay off the poor Prince of Wales
He's living in the grimmest of fairy tales...

Showing him as the new King following the Donnaverse's version of VotD in Turn Left would have been genius... and not have gone down well with basically anyone :D

When I saw the Titanic heading towards the palace on Xmas day I said to the screen - DON'T YOU DARE!

in an early version of VotD he was shown on the news saying "My Mother is staying in London to show she is not afraid" or something to that effect.
