Star Trek XI: JJ Abrams will present 25 minutes in exclusive for Spain

All the trekkies of the world will be envious of the Spaniards since the producer and director J.J Abrams will present November 12 in Spain 25 minutes of the new movie of the saga, Star Trek XI.

The producer behind Lost, Cloverfield and Armageddon will be in the IMAX from Madrid from the 17 hrs where Abrams will count us about the new and revolutionary vision of Star Trek. At 19 o'clock hrs is stave the projection of 25 minutes of the eleventh film of Star Trek.

This new film of Star Trek is starred in by Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Eric Bann, Simon Pegg, John Cho and plans to be premiered May 8, 2009 so much in the United States as in Spain.

There's nothing up at the
IMAX Madrid site
, but they only seem to be showing the schedule for the week.

Still, it's very interesting. A detailed report from Madrid-area Trek fans
wouldn't go amiss...

I wonder if this is connected to Abrams' supposed November business in the UK talked about here? There's a mention farther down the first page of a 20-minute screening at a secret location in London.

On that note.. does anyone else think 25 minutes is a bit too much? IF the report is accurate, I wonder if maybe it will be like a "Documentary" type presentation, sort of what you'd see as an extra on the DVD with scenes put in.

Regardless, I'm expecting all our Spanish friends who check this out to go to the theatre wearing sombreros. Do it because you're real Trek fans.

Really. If there's anything suspicious about this report, it's the 25 minute length of the preview. The Dark Knight showed the opening 6-8 minutes (bank robbery/intro to the Joker) before "I Am Legend." That's the longest preview I've ever seen or even read about. Has anyone seen a preview that long before? OTOH, if this is true, maybe it indicates that this won't be a short film. If they're willing to show 25 minutes, it's not likely that it's only a 90 minute film; without credits on either end, 25 minutes would be about a third of the whole film.

Hmm... not sure I buy it. Showing a little bit of footage is a great way to gauge the audience's reaction, and to stir up buzz. But 25 minutes seems awfully long.

Espera te, la pelicula va a ser libre en una semana. Viva Youtube! Hablo espanol mejor que Sr. Spock. Creo...

The film orwhatever will be out in a week after the spanish showing. Wait for someone to post it on Youtube or Google vids.

This is not a screening for the public, it'll be for industry people and journalists. I agree that it seems too long, but it at least shows that they're confident they've got a good movie on their hands.
