The unofficial Rock Band thread.

That's my favourite undocumented feature. If you FC a section, the audience sings with you.
In fact, that's probably the worst aspect of the DLC... they don't have time to mix that into the track.

Me too. I play "Wanted Dead or Alive" just for the audience singing.

I like it in Say it Ain't So.

"Saaaaay it ain't soooooOOOOooooOOOO, my life is a heaaartbreeaaakerrr!"

Amazon says my RB2 is shipping on the 17th... gaaarg.

Downloads for the week of 9/21:

Rush's "Moving Pictures" is supposed to come out for real this time.

In addition to a bunch of regular price titles:

Bad Religion - "Sorrow"
The Cult - "She Sells Sanctuary"
Hot Hot Head - "Bandages"
Kasabian - "Shoot the Runner"
Sleater-Kinney - "You're no Rock N Roll Fun"
Stone Roses - "Love Spreads"

Breakneck speed really makes this game for me. It made the Grateful Dead song a lot of fun to play and really gives the guitar parts a GHII feel.

Sleater Kinney!
Anyway, whatever happened to the 20 free songs?

Amazon has delayed the game for a month for me... which means I'll have to bite the bullet if I want it now. Unfortunately, no stores seem to have the damn thing.

Since it's game-only and 360-only, I have no problem coming across RB2 at stores.

The 20 free songs probably won't come out until the game comes out for the rest of the consoles in addition to the full instrument bundles. Speaking of which, bundles are $159 (PS2) and $169 (all the rest) at Deep Discount.

I hear it's 1.6 gigs?

Closer to 1.5 I believe. I can't believe how many songs are in this game. I decided to not use the unlock code and so far I've gotten 43/84 songs playable.

I caved and bought it. Don't know why Harmonix thinks they should keep songs away from less skilled players, they did that with Guitar Hero II as well. Sod the achievements, I want to play Won't Get Fooled Again but my fingers just won't let me play on medium so unlock code it is.

It's not a big deal, I just can get through the WT while unlocking songs. I think I've played all the songs and nothing has given me as much trouble as GG&HT from RB1. That song took me months to beat the end.

I guess the problem is that having more songs in RB2 actually makes unlocking new songs that much harder.
I'm really surprised that quickplay doesn't feature all the songs unlocked, even now.

Wait a sec. How the fuck are they gonna do Sir Psycho Sexy?

How many bleeps are they intending to throw in there?

^Language in Rock Band is bizarre. They censored the repeated use of the word "God" out of Fallout Boy's "This Ain't a Scene..." but left the line "They aren't sluts like you" in "Celebrity Skin".

My European copy has a clear notice on the back of the box stating that the game contains strong language too.

I like firehawk's suggestion - all the songs should be unlocked for Quickplay (single and multiplayer). Otherwise, people buy this to have a laugh with the family at Christmas only to find they can only play a few of the songs.

I know games are supposed to be about the challenge, but I wouldn't be too happy if I played Half-Life 2 on Easy only to be told that after being transported out of Nova Prospekt I'd have to play the game from the start again on Medium to go any further.

The problem, as I've read since I haven't played it yet, is that because it's based on that world tour mode, you never know if you are going to unlock a new song since all the songs are randomly selected.

And what's worse is that if you have lots of DLC, your chances of getting a new song are diminished. What's the point of that?

My hands are now killing me but I did it! I unlocked them all! I made it to the last set on Medium!

Metallica are now my enemies and must die for inflicting Enter Sandman upon my poor hands. :(

On Rock Band 1, Enter Sandman never really bothered me. It was always fun to play, even on expert.

The two songs I still haven't beaten on expert are "Green Grass and High Tides" and "Flirtin' with Disaster".

Goddamned southern rock just kills me. Every time.

^Yes, well, you probably don't suck quite as much as I do, then. Even getting this far on medium was quite an achievement for me.

I'm not trying to brag, I'm just trying to bitch about those two songs. How the hell are you supposed to get past such batshit insane guitar solos? I have yet to find a technique.

No idea, and I wasn't suggesting you were bragging. I completely admit that I'm rubbish. :)

You have to use the solo buttons. It's easier said than done since I can't do those songs on Expert either. :(

I can do a little better with the solo buttons, but not enough to make it through.

Even practicing at 70, 80, 90 percent doesn't help too much. Not on expert.

Those songs are friggin impossible.
