MLB Chatter 2008

How about those Angels?!?!

Los Angeles finishes the season with 100 wins, taking the AL West by 21 games.

Of course, this will mean nothing if we can't beat the Red Sox.

I hate them so much.

:scream:

Hey ANGELS....WE'RE BACK!!:techman:

Unfortunately we are coming into this series like the Angels came into the Sox series last year...injured. Hopefully we can still make it a good show.

Also...someone check on Deadpool to make sure he is still alive...

I have a soft spot in my heart for the tragic Cubbies but I don't think they can win.

By the way Red Sox fans, there's a new commercial for ESPN's Sports Center starring Stephen King wearing his Boston baseball cap and supposedly writing copy about the Sox beating the Yanks. It's pretty funny.

My dream of a Twins/Brewers World Series is still alive.

I'm going to be a Tigers fan for one day. The Twins haven't played well at Chicago, so I'm hoping they don't need to go there for the tie breaker. Besides, with the beating the Twins' bullpen has taken lately, they could sure use a few days of rest.

There will be a tiebreaker game. The Tigers, outside of Freddy Garcia, have already packed it in for the season. Two coaches have been fired. The head coach is already looking to next year.

I saw that. That was pretty funny.:lol: Those ESPN commercials are some of the few that I don't mind seeing over and over. They include:

The Stephen King commercial
The Hip Hip JORGE! Jorge Posada commercial
The David Ortiz Yankee Cap and Wally the Green Monster crying commercial

I really hope the series is the Cubs and Rays. Fox would hate it, but I think that would be really "interesting" ;)

If the Cubs make it, Fox won't mind it too much, given the size of the Chicago market to begin with. No, what Fox would hate would be that Milwaukee / Minnesota World Series.

Well, since the Mets are done, the Rockies were pretty meh this year, and the Nationals were an embarrassment, I guess I'll be rooting for the Cubs now. :p

im hoping for a Cubs/Rays series, but from the POV of FOX im sure they would love Cubs/RedSox.

All that said, they have to finish the season first, and looking at the weather, that is not something that will be easy this year.

Beckett's been scratched for Game 1 of the ALDS. However, given how he's pitched lately, that might actually a good thing. I think Lester and Dice-K should be able to give some good work over in Anaheim.

The day after the Yankees were eliminated, I was traveling and had a layover in LaGuardia airport. I made sure to wear my Red Sox '04 WS shirt and '07 WS cap. ;)

Nobody seemed to notice, though, as everyone was transfixed by the mice running about at the gate and eating crumbs from the carpet. Man, that is one disgusting airport.

This was being discussed on Mike & Mike this morning but no answer was brought out by the time I got to work.

Why is this tie-breaking game tonight between the Twins and the White Sox being played in Chicago? I know that a coin flip determined it, but why wasn't the season series taken into consideration? The Twins won that 10-8, so it seems this game ought to be in Minnesota as opposed to Chicago.

That bullpen was a complete oversight by Minaya.

He couldn't have forseen Wagner getting hurt, or Heilman and Feliciano regressing. Duaner Sanchez not returning to form is not surprising given how injured he was.

Those were the guys you wanted pitching the bulk of your innings out of the pen. The rest of the guys were righty/lefty specialists you bring in to get one out. And they were forced to pitch much more than they should have. You want Schoenweiss or Smith for a batter, not 2 innings.

Lets go Rays. I`m still in shock over what happened on Sun, but at least my last memory of Shea was being in the building for Johan`s game on Sat. Nobody from the NL deserves to win so lets go Rays. (Of course if Kazmir is world series MVP, Jim Duquette, Rick Peterson, and Al Leiter have to die slow horrible deaths.)
