Thor get a new director

Supervisor 194

"Kenneth Branagh is negotiating to direct Thor for Marvel Studios, reports Variety. The comic book adaptation is scheduled for a June 4, 2010 release. Branagh is the latest in a string of directors -- such as Jon Favreau (Iron Man), Christopher Nolan (the Batman franchise) and Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) -- with arthouse roots taking on big-budget comic book fare. Marvel will set a distributor for Thor shortly. Thor, written by Mark Protosevich, follows disabled medical student Donald Blake, who has an alter ego as the hammer-wielding Norse god Thor."

Good choice, I think. Branaugh will handle the psuedo-Shakespearean dialogue and elements well. Also, I'm glad to see Don Blake will be back as Thor's alter-ego.

I thought Triple H was going to be Thor. If anybody was born to play the role, it's him.

Oh and it's "Branagh", not "Branaugh".

I really doubt they're going to do that style of dialogue; even the comics have stopped it.

I'm wondering if that's based on having seen a script, or if they're just plugging in Thor's basic comics story, because every script for this that I've seen doesn't use Blake, and it basically all-Asgard.

Branagh would be an excellent choice; I'm a huge fan. He'd certainly add some respectability to the production.

First. Woah. Interesting and exciting.

I think this is a dreadful idea. Yes, Triple H looks the role. Big deal. Can he act?

And let's be honest, do you really put on a poster TRIPLE H IS THOR!!!

It literally makes the movie a Direct-To-DVD affair.

He's not going to be in the movie...at least not as Thor.

Branagh is an interesting choice. Can't be worse than Tim Story(FF). At any rate they need to get this movie going sometime in the next 3-5 months.

Would Branagh also be playing Donald Blake? Either way, this movie just jumped up my interest-o-meter by quite a bit.

I'm really looking forward to a Thor movie. This sounds like a good move.

I'm also really curious to see who they will get to play Thor ...And the Triple H thing has got to be the worst idea ever.

Well, in his defence, the poster wouldn't say "Triple H", it would say, "Mr Stephanie McMahon".

;)

^It'd say Paul Levesque since that's his name. His wife's name is Stephanie McMahon-Levesque now.

I could see Karl Urban, from the Lord of the Rings movies and the new McCoy in Star Trek, as Thor. He's got the stature and the presence to play a warrior like Thor, but he's also down-to-Earth enough to make the character real, which I'm not sure Triple-H could pull off.

Billy Smith, who used to be the American Gladiator "Thunder," would have been good.

This guy?

I ... uh ....

Yeah. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Just because someone LOOKS like a comic book character, doesn't mean they are right for the role.

1. They have to be able to act.
2. They have to be able to sell tickets
3. They should probably have SOME weight attached to their name...

This isn't going to be a Direct to DVD movie...no wrestles, no American Gladiators, no, no, no.
