Reminder: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is going on hiatus for Baseball Playoffs. As of this moment it is still not cancelled.

Interestingly, just wanted to add, they must have some degree of confidence in the series. Fox just began work on a video game based on the series.

Shades of Arrested Development just before cancellation...

Just sayin'. :borg:

I don't understand why FOX is pushing this show to succeed so much. Not only did they give the show a chance at a second season after a mediocre job in the ratings during its first season, but they heavily promoted the second season of the show. Now throw in a video game; this isn't FOX's usual style for genre shows. Were they hoping The Sarah Connor Chronicles would become the next Heroes?

^ I think it's partially because they've already dumped so much money into the series. For the first season the budget per episode averaged between 5 - 10 million. In the first season it also scored very highly with the core demos. I think that they may believe, like most of us, that the problem is its up against Football which eats up a lot of their viewership. I wouldn't be surprised if the series ends up being moved to a new timeslot.

As noted I'm not that excited for S2 of TSCC however i'd watch it over MLB baseball. A marathon even. I just find baseball to be that much less exciting.

^ I agree except I enjoy season two :) I hate baseball playoffs. So many good shows get taken off the air...

But everybody knows the ultimate end! Sarah Connor gets her rocks off killing (for the sake of humanity, of course,) but John doesn't disappear into nowhere. The rest is minor details, but the key points are as inevitable sunrise. With about as much suspense, I might add. How could it matter if the show is canceled?

And here I thought the redundancy in "ultimate end" would serve as emphasis that I wasn't talking about now. In any event, in Terminator 2, Sarah Connor has the idea to stop Skynet on her own but can't bring herself to kill someone. She made her decision. That was the dramatic crisis of the movie. The rest was just an extended denouement, which is why is got a little draggy.

Unless the series has Sarah reverse herself, there is absolutely no dramatic point to this series at all. And sorry, no, whether she wins is not drama. If drama was about who wins, every horse race would be a drama! Drama is about choice. Since the main use of time travel was to update the setting, the series isn't a thematically driven time travel story. And since Sarah hasn't wondered whether John would disappear, the series is not about whether she chooses to retroactively abort. (Despite jokes about Oedipal tensions, that is only because Thomas Dekker is miscast---he's too old.)

So, the series is about what exactly it seemed to be about, Unresolved Homicidal Tension. I suppose this is meant to be a fresh variation on Unresolved Sexual Tension. It is the nature of the beast that the supposed tension is left unresolved at any cost in absurdity until the end.

And if the Sarah Connor Chronicles turns out to be about Summer Glau's struggle to be human or Thomas Dekker Becoming a Man, that doesn't mean the show was incorrectly titled---it would mean that it got a soft reboot.

^ The show was always meant to be about the growth of John Connor from kid to leader. They weren't permitted to use the name The John Connor Chronicles because it's already a novel series.

How is he too old for the part Dekker is 20 and John Connor is chronologically 21?

I'm with you. I hate sports pre-empting regular programming. Put that crap on cable where it belongs :scream:

I worked with a baseball fan who described baseball as, "The most exciting 2 minutes of sports crammed into an hour and a half".

Terminator: The Rise of the Humans or Terminator: War Chronicles or Terminator: Paradox Lost would all work for series titles, in my opinion.

A twenty-one year old high school student is destined to become humanity's savior?:wtf:

Was he more believable as a ten year old in T2?

^ Um the character of Sarah Connor has not actually killed anyone.

Wasn't it strongly hinted (but not flat out stated) that she killed Sarkissian in "Samson and Delilah?" I could be wrong here, but the conversation between Sarah and John afterwards seemed to imply that she did.

How many baptisms can that bloke be struck with at the same time?

10 year old John had Skynet by the balls.

16 year old John is a bit of a selfinvolved twat.

The ten year old could grow up. The twenty one year old is already grown up but still in high school. How does failing repeatedly qualify him as military leader?
