Star Trek cereal!

I happened to be going through a box of old Star Trek articles, posters and the like that I have at home, and came across a cardboard sheet which was all about warp speeds.

I couldn't work out where on earth I got this, until I saw a company logo at the top, and it suddenly hit me.

It came from a Star Trek cereal, released here in Australia by Willow Valley, in 1996. The cereal itself came in some sort of Trek-related shape - the Delta symbol, possibly. On the back of the packs were data cards such as this one on warp speeds. There's even a phone number for the Star Trek Fan Club of Australia.

Was this cereal released anywhere else? Was it around for a while?

I was only just getting into Trek at this time, which is why I only have the one reminder of it. If it came out now, I'd have a cupboard full of it...

I don't remember any trek flakes in england, but Weetabix did do a star trek promotion over here in the early 90s.

Trying to imagine... Kirk's Krispies, Ferengi Flakes, Golden McCoys...

I think I'll stick with my Shreddies, thanks.

If there were a Star Trek cereal in existence here in the USA, I'd be going to the Sam's Club and stocking up every few months.

remember back when TNG was new, there was some ad for it on Cheerios boxes?

Yes. I had at least one box of this when I was 5. I got a Commander Riker sticker out of it too. That sticker and the amazing new Enterprise on the front of the box were soooo cool...

I remember a few promotional cerels over the years, especially for TNG and the first-season contest for a walk on on the show. It was for Cheerios and featured Wil Wheaton's younger brother in the commercial.

Are you sure that's not "Spock Shreddies"? ;)

This isn't a commercial for a Star Trek cereal, but I thought it was cool:

Here's another. What do you get when you cross a Klingon and a Happy Meal? This! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvRyBRVpJGw&feature=related :)

That one's fake. The caption on the page clearly says "Fantasy Star Trek Collectible"

LOL, I didn't even notice that, I only looked at the picture. :D
That one's fake, but it's based on a real one.

I also seem to recall it being the basis of some Photoshoppery in one of the contests around here, some time back.

Yep, Back in 1987, I got a sticker of the enterprise, and actually won a galoob diecast enterprise with a seperating saucer section. I have no Idea what happened to it. it was the only time Ive ever won a "sweepstakes"

Jean-Luc Picard-Os?

Riker Crispies?

Frosted Crusher's Charms?

Crackling Troi-Bran?

Hmmm... Maybe an Engineer's Choice cereal with warp-nacelle shaped puffed rice and chocolate flavored warp-cores marshmallows!

I think Mugat-Os would be a fab name for a cereal.

My very first memories of Star Trek was from a cereal packet in the late sixties. I wish for the life of me I could remember the year and the brand. I was about ten, it was definitely late sixties, probably 67 or 68. I am guessing it was a Kellogs packet, as that is all I remember seeing in those days. The collectable was a small figurine of one of the characters, and the blurb on the packet gave a rundown of their personality and role on the starship. I remember being intrigued by the whole concept, and subsequently watching TOS when it first appeared in syndication around 1970. Been a fan ever since, only wish I still had the cereal packet!!

Kellogs had a Star Trek promotion on their cereal boxes for Trek's 30th anniversary back in 96. I remember the first time I saw the Enterprise E was on a box of Rice Krispies. It made me really excited I nearly pissed myself.

I remember a cereal called "Urkel-O's" back in the 90's, that featured Jaleel White's "Family Matters" character on a cereal box promoting "Cap'n Crunch-style" U-shaped...

...It was horrid.
