Terminator: TSCC=soon to be terminated

How long will Terminator last?

It premiered to 18.3 million viewers and immediately fell to 8. Season two has had the following numbers so far: 6.33 and 5.49 million viewers. FOX cancelled New Amsterdam (which was cheaper to produce) when it hit the 7 million mark. Something tells me this show ain't long for this life.

Wanted to clear a couple of things up before I did anything else:
1) New Amsterdam wasn't cancelled because of ratings; it was cancelled before it even aired (it was actually one of the first casualties of the new season last year, and one of the only series - if not the only series - to be cancelled by circumstances not related to the writer's strike). The truth is, the only reason FOX aired NA at all is because they were strapped for programming in the wake of the strike.

The irony here is that FOX cancelled a show that had a modest audience with 7million and was cheaper to produce. They had too much hubris to reverse course and keep New Amsterdam because some suit(s) decided to cancel it early as laid out by Digific.

TSCC while being familiar wasn't that great a show. Each episode was by and large watching chunks of T:2 play out over and over again.
I've decided to not watch S2 of TSCC due to what I saw in season 1. The characterization is off and the stories could be written by a group of us non-professionals on this board. I bet TG and Christopher(any of our known pro novelists BBS'ers) could write better episodes.

That said I agree with another upthread that the show will run until the movie. It'll likely get its full second season. A season three would only happen if they attempt to be relevant to the "real" Terminator timeline, aka the movies. TSCC is like Earth 2, fun enough but not as exciting as the primary one.

I for one hope that this show makes if for the long haul. I am getting sick of every show I like to watch tanking, while shows like Grey's Anatomy and Dancing with the Stars survive. Life ain't fair, it just ain't fair:(

Oh boo hoo. Being born without a limb is unfair. Having a parent die while you're an infant is unfair. Being raped is unfair. But TV shows you don't even watch that other people enjoy... that makes life unfair?

And having a show you like and enjoy get cancelled while some complete dirge of a tv show soldiers on and on and on isnt fair either....

Personally I think it will get three seasons.

Those were my exact feelings too. The first season felt like just an extremely padded and drawn out version of T2. It just kept hitting the same notes over and over, and watching an FBI agent sloooowly piece together something we already know was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I have a feeling other TV viewers are starting to realize the same thing.

ME: But TV shows you don't even watch that other people enjoy... that makes life unfair?

YOU: And having a show you like and enjoy get cancelled while some complete dirge of a tv show soldiers on and on and on isnt fair either....

How do you even respond to something like that?

I think FOX has some confidence in the show since they had an encore of the entire season preceding the season premiere. I watched the series premiere when it first aired but didn't watch the whole season until the encore.

I think the show is pretty impressive. It's better than I expected it to be. The action scenes are some of the best I've seen in television and I like what they've done with the premise and characters. Ellison and Charley Dixon and Derek Reese are interesting characters, and I liked where they took John and Sarah in season one. Cameron seemed to be aping fish-out-of-water android stuff, but she's made it her own.

I'd like to see it continue.

T:SSC has 0% chance on a 3rd season, simple as that...not cheap to make and its ratings are getting worse week by week. Its current ratings would only be fit for CW out of any other major networks.

Cable is an option but I bet the ratings would tumble even more.

I don't think it's a very good show from a broader perspective, but then neither are the movies. It's a geek niche to pretend the first movie wasn't a period zombie movie. I remember watching the first one with my famaily on Beta MAX when I was little... They rewound and watched the scene where the T-800 cut his eye out three times because it was... The remote control had a cord!

"real" people just like tits, gore, and explosions.

I'm just amazed that Robocop the series lasted as long as it did, and didn't Highlander the series become excellent once it broke it's immortal of the week routine? I like it when Jennifer grey shows up on FRiends reruns and I'm screaming "It's Jeanie Beuller in Stereo!!" The 80s still have a lot to offer us here in the future.

Oh, that's right, I forgot that you're the only person in the entire world, and the entire fall TV schedule is supposed to revolve around you! How silly of me! :)

I think you guys are taking what he said just a little too seriously.

Enterprise was canceled? In any event, I don't know about anyone else, but I am loving the 8th season so far.

That FBI agent and the guy that played O'Reilly on Oz can both pass for Terminators. They're characters are unbelievably dry. This show will die, if it doesn't pick up soon.

The first things these guys should have done was explain why the blasted time machine is still functioning, after Kyle said it was destroyed.

Ratings were slightly up

In the words of the joker....why soooo serious? Of course when things are put in perspective tv shows and entertainment are frivolous stupid things that should not be put on the level that you so bitingly laid out in your post. To say I was being facetious in my post is an understatement to say the least.

I guess you just had to up the jerk factor in your post though to make your point.

Well done.

I think it's still too early to tell at this point. The main problem in my opinion is that it's going up against ESPN's Monday Night Football.

Also, shows seem to be suffering in general this fall on all broadcast channels. So, it's not like this is a unique case or anything.
