It premiered to 18.3 million viewers and immediately fell to 8. Season two has had the following numbers so far: 6.33 and 5.49 million viewers. FOX cancelled New Amsterdam (which was cheaper to produce) when it hit the 7 million mark. Something tells me this show ain't long for this life.

What do you guys think though? How long until FOX pulls another Firefly?
 
Fox is not only counting Nielson ratings but online downloads from iTunes, viewership on the website, viewership on Hulu, and DVR recordings in addition to the standard Nielsen ratings with the series. Plus it's streamed live on the website for those on College campuses.

There is a rumor though that Fox may move it to FX.
 
Also, that initial 18 million number was due to it being the first new show in weeks at all, pretty much. Remember that strike-type-thing?
 
I am sure that they will at least go until the end of the season. I guess FOX is also counting streaming hits and DVR recordings. That might skew any cancellation thoughts for the better.

Also, with a new movie coming out, I bet Fox will keep it around, thinking that the movie will give it a boost.
 
This is an average show that takes the low road with high concepts. I'm entertained while I watch it, but it doesn't stick with me when it's over and I wouldn't miss it when it's gone. As opposed to some of you who write paragraphs of basically fan fiction to explain away all the plot holes.

Just as CBS took the DVR numbers, internet streams and iTunes donwloads under careful consideration before cancelling Jericho.

Sorry folks, but I'm not optimistic. Networks are just plain stupid when it comes to preserving science fiction products.
 
^ To be honest I don't really think it'll be on after this season. Though, one question about Jericho, what were its ratings in the core demo of 18 - 30?
 
well, they have paid for 25 eps this season, so hopefully, if they hear that thier getting the axe, they can end this series on, well, an ending
 
They'll be able to sell the DVD's for this show for the next thousand years.

34 episodes plus the original pilot, plus a dozen featurettes will make a wonderful boxset... Everything has changed since Family Guy came back from the dead.
 
Thinking some more about it. I think it'll get a third season. I refuse to believe that Fox would axe the show right as the new movie comes out, especially if it gets good early buzz. However, I think a third season would be "borrowed time". If the ride of the new movie doesn't carry it past the opening few episodes, it will get a shortened third season.

My ultimate guess is that Fox will pull an Arrested Development with TSCC. Season two's episode order will get cut further down the line, and it will have a very short, final third season.

Didn't the producers say they have a loose 3-season arc they were developing?

I know that TSCC scores fairly high in the core demos so that may help it. I remember reading that despite the low ratings for "Automatic for the People" last week it came in first for the core demos for the night.

I'd love if the moved it to FX. It could go way further, way more intense. Hard-core. Maybe some semi-nude shots of Lena and Summer! :eek: ;)
 
Haven't seen any of Season 2 yet, but I'm hoping it isn't cancelled too soon as I have been enjoying it:)

Wanted to clear a couple of things up before I did anything else:
1) New Amsterdam wasn't cancelled because of ratings; it was cancelled before it even aired (it was actually one of the first casualties of the new season last year, and one of the only series - if not the only series - to be cancelled by circumstances not related to the writer's strike). The truth is, the only reason FOX aired NA at all is because they were strapped for programming in the wake of the strike.

2) The true circumstances behind Firefly's cancellation have been well-documented elsewhere (by me and others), so I won't go into them, but none of the series that FOX has aired and then cancelled in the 6 years since can be compared to it.

Regarding the ratings for TSCC, yes, it's had declining ratings so far, but, as has already been pointed out, it has still managed to secure FOX wins in its primary demographic (18-49 or whatever it is).
