After bowing to the masses, I have created this new and shiny poll for most annoying and generally disliked recurring child characters of Star Trek. Made originally from this thread, consisting of my original suggestions and shout outs for more from the community, I now give you our final choices. Feel free to toss out any honorable mentions, too. Let us all revel in our mutual distastes!

P.S. Still going with Naomi, nyah! :bolian:

I honestly don't know why any children were ever seen as necessary on any Star Trek. I know Wesley was Gene's vision of himself as a kid, or something like that, but wasn't that enough??

I'd find it odd if we went though five series without seeing a kid.

Well, it was inevitable they'd start showing up on Voyager, at least. This is a ship cut off from home - even Janeway observed that the crew were going to start pairing off and having kids, in case it became a generation ship.

Well, I had picked Naomi Wildman in the previous poll, but I had to pick Alexander Rozhenko since he's an option in this poll. Poor Alexander was just badly written, and didn't have too many redeeming qualities, even fewer than Wesley Crusher and Naomi.

I'm still a Wesley fan... I voted for Alexander. There were just too many whiney scenes without much character development.

Having raised 2 children whose mother (my sister) did not want them, I understood Naomi's need to emulate Seven of Nine. After all, she was a role model and mother figure for a hurting child trying to cope.

What do you mean by that? Something happened to Sam Wildman? How was Naomi hurting?

eeeew! wesley is a weenie!

he wouldn't even sign at a event for the fants

I again voted for Molly O'Brien. We didn't see as much of her as some of the other kids, but she was consistently a whiny, sniveling little beast. For me it all boils down to two words: "I'm coloring..."

So for me, Molly is annoyance number one (and so's her mother)... that is unless the Mezoti you mentioned was Data's little orange friend with the extra-long pinkies. She was horrible!

I don't get the Alexander-hate, frankly. I liked him. Never had as much of a problem with Wes as some, either.

Well, Voyager didn't have to assimilate more kids. Also, regarding any series, kids could be mentioned and shown in the background, without actually ever focusing on them or giving them stupid roles.

Same here, Wesley is annoying in the first episodes. Alexander is always annoying!

I went with Alexander because his only marginally good episodes had him as a teenager or adult from the future.

Still going with Icheb, for the Manu(re)-despising reasons detailed here in the first thread.

Brian:

First, love your avatar! Lipstick on a pit bull, indeed! Reminds me of a weird scene from the 1970s version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, where a damaged pod assimilates a dog and drunk and combines the two so the dog winds up with the drunk's head.

Second, read your post about Manu Intirami, who shall henceforth be christened with the moniker he despises, Borg Boy! What a foul-mouthed, homophobic little jerk! Good luck having a career, Borg Boy, with comments like that spewing from your mouth! Wow!

Thanks for sharing. My reaction was a cross between bemused and horrified.

Icheb is the most annoying, never can stand that guy even for one second.

Alexander was really annoying on TNG but he was just a screw-up on DS9 as a result of Worf's bad parenting rather than being outright annoying on DS9; which is why I voted for Icheb instead of Alexander.

Who the hell is Mezoti? Oh, right, after consulting Memory Alpha, I remembered she was one of the de-Borged kids. She's a cute little tyke, don't hate her, please! I want to pick her up and give her a hug! -- RR
