Only if it doesn't have all the "firepower" turn out to be largely irrelevant to the resolution of the story.

You see to me, having huge vast spacebattles are meaningless unless they actually accomplish something.

Having 500 starships being blown away by the Borg for no gain amounts to simple repetition of Wolf-359 on a larger scale.

If the battles don't actually accomplish anything, then having them is worse than having none at all.

The disconnect *seems* to be that your definition of "meaningless" and "accomplish something/accomplish anything" appears to differ from pretty much everyone else's.
