I just used music from "The Visitor" in one of my rock CD mixes!

I post regularly on a website called Art Of The Mix (www.artofthemix.org), and I used music from the Deep Space Nine episode The Visitor in my most recent mix set!

This is actually the first time I've used any music from Star Trek in any of my mix discs. Most of the stuff I put in my mixes tends to be on the harder rocking side of things, but every once in a while I'll throw in an instrumental or a piece from a film score just to spice things up a little!

Just recently, I ordered a copy of The Best Of Star Trek: 30th Anniversary Special! (Original TV Soundtrack) on CD from Amazon. I got it mainly for the Orchestral Suite from The Inner Light, but it's got a lot of other really great musical pieces from throughout the history of all four (as of 1996) Star Trek TV series, including the main themes.

Anyway, one of these days I'm gonna use The Inner Light. In fact, I'm going to use Jay Chattaway's The Inner Light theme to bookend one of my future mixes, using the main flute theme to begin the mix, and using the Orchestral Suite to end it!

But...in any case, here's the tracklisting for PAZUZU MIX #105!:

DISC ONE:
1. The Dust Brothers - Who Is Tyler Durden? (instrumental) (from Fight Club) (1999)
2. Judas Priest - Victim Of Changes (1976)

10. Chris Cornell - Arms Around Your Love (2007)
11. Sevendust - Broken Down (2003)
12. The New York Dolls - Don't Start Me Talkin' (1974)
13. Jethro Tull - Bungle In The Jungle (1974)
14. Living Colour - Fight The Fight (1990)
15. Steve Howe (w / Max Bacon) - Going, Going, Gone (1999)
16. Dennis McCarthy - Suite From The Visitor: Rainy Night (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) (instrumental) (1995)
17. Ennio Morricone - Regan's Theme (I) (from Exorcist II: The Heretic) (1977)
18. Cheap Trick - Need Your Love (1979)

DISC TWO:
1. Van Der Graaf Generator - The Hurlyburly (instrumental) (2008)
2. Rage Against The Machine - Bombtrack (1992)
3. The Pretenders - The Wait (1979)
4. R.E.M. - Pop Song 89 (1988)
5. The Doors - Love Street (1968)

7. Yes - Yesterday And Today (1969)
8. Rainbow - Black Sheep Of The Family (1975)
9. Accept - Breaker (1981)
10. 3 (Keith Emerson, Robert Berry & Carl Palmer) - Desde La Vida: La Vista / Frontera / Sangre De Toro (1988)
11. Motley Crue - Dancing On Glass (1987)
12. AC/DC - Heatseeker (1988)
13. The Velvet Underground - Lisa Says (1969)
14. Black Sabbath - Rat Salad (instrumental) (1970)
15. Danzig - She Rides (1988)
16. Stone Temple Pilots - Ride The Cliche (1996)
17. The Beatles - Dig A Pony (1970
18. Bad Company - Run With The Pack (1976)
19. Ennio Morricone - Regan's Theme (II) (from Exorcist II: The Heretic) (1977)
20. Dennis McCarthy - Suite From The Visitor: One Last Visit (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) (instrumental) (1995)
21. Led Zeppelin - I'm Gonna Crawl (1979)

Well, what do you think of the sequencing? Do you think the McCarthy and Morricone pieces are well-placed in relation to all the other rock stuff?

P.S. A silly little joke in relation to the #13-14 sequence on DISC TWO:

Lisa Says < Rat Salad... - "...The waiter, his expression unreadable, hesitates only a split second before compliantly taking the order. He then simply smiles, turns and walks away. Lisa's date, sitting across from her at their shared table, can only stare dumbstruck and slackjawed with his eyes bulging from his skull. Utterly appalled and incredulous, he has no words. But he makes a solemn vow to himself that from this point on he will swear off internet blind dating permanently!"

Ha...ha...ha...ha...ha. Hmmmmm...I fully admit that perhaps it loses something in the translation from thought to screen text!

Have you considered putting the orchestral music in the opening or closing spots on the discs?

Actually, I'm going to do that on one of my future mixes! I'm going to use Jay Chattaway's theme from TNG: The Inner Light as a way of bookending the mix, using the main flute theme as the opening number and using the orchestral suite as the finale! :D

As far as this mix is concerned...I don't know, I guess this time around I thought it would be better to use the Visitor/Heretic numbers as the prelude to the final tracks on each disc! :)

I'm a big fan of rock music as well as orchestral scores. Its an unusual mix and my friends usual don't understand my music collection. I don't really make mixes but I do like the idea behind your mix.

Oh, and the "Suite From The Inner Light" is fantastic.
