Scholarship for knowing Klingon

http://www.cracked.com/article_16613_p2.html

Scroll down, it's the last one.

Did anybody else know about this? I found that really amusing - apparently learning a made-up language is good for something.

Here's the information - https://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/scholar/pdf/ScholarshipProfile.PDF?scholarshipId=94841

Just felt like sharing :)

So would any of you actually go for this/have gone for it if you knew about it?

I can get 500 bucks for being part Irish, and another $500 for being left handed. I even get a small scholarship for having an ancestor in the American civil war. So Kilingon is actually kinda normal. I'd rather have a Klingon scholarship than an Ayan Rand one.

What cracks me up, though, is that they claim it requires "absolutely no talent" to get that scholarship.

As someone who has learned a foreign language and is also a conlang designer myself (though not on the Marc Okrand level), it takes a LOT of work to learn a foreign language as well as to design one.

"No talent" my ass. Of all the ones up there, that one actually takes WORK--work that if you're successful, is a pretty good indicator the KLI isn't going to be wasting that money on someone who's going to flunk out (well, assuming the lucky winner doesn't hit the bloodwine too hard :klingon: ).
