Watching John, Sarah, etc. run from the terminator of the week is going to get old real fast.

Then it's a good thing that they have avoided doing "Terminator of the week" for the most part (the only exception being the "Carter" unit from last season). Cromartie, Vick and the new T-1000 have all been recurring characters. (Or at least T-1000 will be recurring...)

Cromartie and Weaver are regulars this season. Though I have a sinking suspicion that Cromartie will die.

THAT IS NOT A SPOILER - it's a theory.

There will be a few standalone episodes this season with Terminators of the week, but they are going to be geared toward other Resistance members in their childhoods. We've all seen the "Yeah we're like cops." promo.

A very paint-by-numbers season opener. The whole "betrayal" line was complete BS. I'm sorry, I don't see John saving Cameron as a betrayal as he kept standing up for Cameron to Sarah all last season.

They reason why it was seen as he betrayed her though was we don't normally see John taking initiative all that often in the series. He directly went against Sarah's wishes and is coming into his own as the leader of the Resistance movement. Up until that scene it was more like Sarah was the leader and he was a follower.

Garret Dillahunt (Cromartie) and Shirley Manson (T-1000) are part of the main credits this season.

Rumor has it that Weaver's Terminator Class has been designated. She is a T-1001. This is only rumor at the moment though.

Where was this established in the series? Also, if that is the case, that goes against what was established in the movies and the theory that Cameron was made by the Resistance.
In any event, I don't get people saying that Skynet took away the termination order. How? Skynet isn't invented yet. Or are they sending messages back through time? If that is the case, lame.

My speculation is that perhaps Weaver is Skynet. It realized it would soon be destroyed in the future, so it came back itself to guide and nurture its infant self. This series is based upon paradox, why not have the ultimate paradox?

Also, something similar has happened before in the Terminator franchise. There are novels, comics, and fanscripts where Terminators have gone back in time carrying portions of Skynet with them. If you read the T3 novel portions of Skynet's code were installed in the T-X and she was to upgrade the system with them. It was never said if she succeeded.

Episode four will focus on Cameron's history so we may find out who built he specifically then. Is she allied with the machines, or is she a human sympathizer?

I thought it was a strong opening to the season. It was also pretty clear that the show's forward momentum since the middle of the first season is still going. I was also glad to see that one of the weaker parts of Season 1, John Connor himself, appears to be heading in the right direction. I was getting tired of him basically trying to ignore the fact that he was being hunted by assassins all the time. At least in this episode he started to show signs of the leader he is supposed to become.

The ending was pretty cool with the revelation about Manson's character. I was wondering what the deal with that was until the end of the episode. IGN's review did get it right, however, by saying that her arc in the episode didn't fit well at all with the rest of the action. Hopefully we will learn more next week.

In short, he has no time to screw open the head, he has to send the T-800 through before the T-1000 succeeds; in other words before the timeline collapses and disappears, the T-800 has to go the past to protect him.

Can't agree with this, it's time travel, Connor could wait 30 years, and so long as he sends the Terminator back to the right point, ie the moment the T-1000 shows up in the past, it wont change anything by waiting.

Of course not. This is Quantum Physics folks, Shrodingers cat. At first, especially as the temporal distortions still exist, both time lines - one where the T-1000 kills a young Connor unopposed and the machines win, and one where the machines lose and they send the terminators back through time - the "present" - exist. Sooner rather than later, however, there will be enough observers to have "opened the box" so to speak, and the probability of sending a protector the T-800 back through time becomes too small, and the two simultaneous timelines collapse into only one: the T-1000 kills John Connor unaposed and the machines win, eradicating "the present" where the machines lose.

The T-800 has to be sent through before that happens.

I want to know how Cameron repairs her damaged organics as well as her mechanics.

As long as the damage isn't massive enough to break it down like with the Terminator from the first film, like the Terminator the second film said; they heal and grow just like the organic tissue on a living being.

What's really the question, is how an explosion and fire didn't cause that much damage.

But I'm willing to overlook that, only so much budget and time per episode.

I thought it was a great episode except for the last 30 seconds.

The introduction of the T-1000 (or 1001) is way too gimmicky, and I didn't really care for the actress. Hopefully her character becomes really interesting because she's now my biggest concern for the quality of the series.

Nah, time travel doesnt work that way in the terminator universe. Besides, it doesnt matter when an object is sent back, what matters is when it is sent back too, and since they arrive at the same time, regradless of depature points, there is not time line where the T-800 kills connor unopposed.

He's more then a paramedic he's also a surgeon. A little nip and tuck to get rid of her scars.

What about the mechanics?
I wouldn't be surprised if the Terminators can do a certain amount of self repair if the damage isn't too bad.
I understand that; however, there is an issue of spare parts. If Cameron gets her arm blown off, it's going to take more than some spit, bailing wire, and duct tape to fix that ;)
