The Earth is Flat. Deal with it.

People are sheep. They'll believe anything if said often enough by the elite on high. We humans seem to be pleased with just accepting what we are told, no matter how much it goes against our senses and when we realise the truth, we try to cover it up. Such is the case of the globularist and the "Round Earth" theory with their doctored photos.

The fact is, we live on a disc with the North Pole in the Centre and a large impassible sheet of ice at the outer edge:

And so to all of you going "well, why don't boats sail off the edge", circumnavigation is a case of travelling in a very broad circle across the surface of the Earth. To those going "why do ships lower the further out they go?", the sinking ship effect is explained by a series of perspective laws, in which a ship on the horizon intersects with the vanishing point, causing it to appear as if it is sinking. I will also add that gravity is also a myth as if it did exist, the Earth would be destroyed. Rather, the Earth is accelerating upward at 9.8 metres squared which fools the mind in thinking there is some kind of invisible force that forces us to remain on the planet, which is just silly.

Wow it all makes such perfect sense now! Why didn't I realise this myself!

    I am officially converted!

"Deal with it" is certainly the most mind bogglingly convincing scientific theory I've even encountered. I await with bated breath your explanation of how the Moon works, and sunrises and sunsets, and bigfoot.

I just saw the Hindenburg. Those old Zeppelins still fly. It's only a hoax that they all crashed.

I know, but the OP could be...parody... uh, okay, all his arguments were lifted straight form that article without modification or comment.

To the OP: And why, pray tell, would the governments and scientists of the world be interested in making us think the Earth is a sphere if it's not? What's the motive? Why bother?

It's pretty simple. The sun and moon rotate around the Earth. If however by "how the Moon works" you mean eclipses and phases there are three possibilities: they are caused by weather phenomena on the Moon itself (which I personally don't subscribe to), that when we see the Moon, we are really seeing light from the sun reflecting off the Earth and depending on where the Sun is, where on the Earth the light hits and where the Moon is placed, it will create phases and eclipses and finally that there is something else rotating around the Earth close to the Moon which creates a shadow and thus phases and eclipses.

This should certainly be taught in the schools as an alternative to the spherical Earth theory. After all, we should cover all theories just like with the evolution and the creationism.

    "Something else."

Oops, your theory just fell apart there.

While you're at it, look up an explanation for why the travel times around the equator are so much greater than the time required to circumnavigate Antarctica.

You can't explain that in any way that's acceptable to folks who aren't fools.

    OK, I'll play along.

Seven of eleven, we see cloud features that seem to rotate around Jupiter. Is it a sphere?

How does that make one of the possible theories fall apart? As for airplanes taking more time in some parts than others, remember that modern airplanes are based on an autopilot working off of "GPS" which basically arranges the flight to take however long it wants it to take.

Possibly. The Earth is a special entity in of itself with its own characteristics. And in this same spirit, there can be other things found throughout the Aether with their own characteristics including being spheres.

I"m torn on how to reply. My serious side wants to ask: so, if the OP concedes that things like orbits happen, and thus gravity likes to pull objects in roundy fashions, what's keeping the Earth flat?

    My sarcastic side says:

Show me where I said "orbit" You're conflating rotating with orbiting. Do the wheels of a car orbit? Do carnival rides orbit? And if you have read my opening post, you would have seen that I've explicitly stated that there is no gravity on the Earth; that it accelerates "up" at 9.8 meters per second squared giving the illusion of gravity.

"Rotating around" an object in space is a fucking orbit. And that's controlled by gravity, which also pulls enormous masses into spheroids.

And is the whole damn solar system accelerating up, too? What's driving the acceleration of Earth? How do you avoid violating conservation of energy? The gravity of a large spheroid and planetary orbits in the "traditional" model don't use energy and can be self sustaining. So where's the power to blast Earth like a rocket coming from?

ETA: And if that's the case, we would probably be moving several times the speed of light by now, if we had been doing this from a dead stop throughout the planet's history.

Latitude/longitude for navigation is a proven system that only functions correctly if the earth is (roughly) spherical.

Things are going to get interesting when global warming melts all that Antarctic ice. Earth will be reduced to an ocean and a few small islands.

But then again, maybe the oceans will flow past the edge once all that "impassible ice" is gone, saving us from the flood.

Seriousness doesn't work for this thread. ;) :p

Seven of eleven, how do you respond that this whole hypothesis violates Occam's Razor? To get rid of the simplicity of a round earth, you have to invent things like objects blocking light from hitting the moon and gobbligook like autopilots conspiring to make airplanes take longer flights.
