Terminator-201 "Samson & Delilah" - Discuss/Grade <Spoiler>

Above Average. It has it's issues (Sarah getting taken down by the door for one) but there were some standout moments here. Particularly from Summer Glau. From her T-1000 scene to the scene where she begs John not to deactivate her. She was fantastic tonight.

Nice to see John finally gain some backbone too. Hopefully that's a sign of things to come. Sarah's rescue of John was pretty damn cool but her character is still a little weak. T-1000's appearance was very cool too.

The best part part of all? The T-1000. I was gonna some in here and say that I'm fascinated by Corporate Lady, but revealing that she's a T-1000? That was quite a surprise. A part of me thinks they could have had a character like hers without that gimmick, but I'm just glad to see a T-1000 on the show, so I'm not too concerned about that right now. Plus, I'm willing to see where they go with this.

The T-1000 has always been a fascinating character. From its very beginning it was intended to be an advanced model infiltrator and had better programming than the rest. In the Terminator mythos Skynet actually is AFRAID of the T-1000 series infiltration unit because it is supposed to be more advanced than even Skynet.

I had theorized that she was going to be a terminator way back when first announced. The series is very similar to the Infiltrator novel series in tone (down to the FBI agent joining the company and working directly for a Terminator). I would have thought it more interesting to use an I-950 though for the corporate baddie. They were humans bred by Skynet and given terminator implants (similar to James Cameron's Dark Angel).

They must have acquired the rights. Cameron did retain some of the trademarks.

Though we don't know if she is a T-1000 for sure. She could be a T-2000 or a T-1100.

They are similar (950 came before the humano cylons), but the 950s are actual humans made into robots.

I am starting to wonder if her going bad was staged.

But by who?

Skynet. Termination Overrides can only be issued by it.

Unless the damage to Cameron's chip somehow allowed her to override her default programming. Or perhaps it was the love that John put into it when polishing it with a dirty rag.

I really enjoyed this episode, especially Cameron's HAL9000 moment...both poignant and disturbing. I also liked how the director (and writer) physically separated John from Sarah when he re-installed Cameron's chip. It was a good directorial means of emphasizing the emotional rift that is forming between them.

^ Years ago (yes in addition to Star Trek RPGs I ran a Terminator one with someone who knew more about Terminator than even I) I created a character based on the T-1000 that I played. I'll have to look up my specs. Maybe I predicted the future.

I do remember I gave it an environmental compensator so that it couldn't be melted down.

^ Actually we have. The T-X model was simply a T-900 endoskeleton with liquid metal skin rather than real skin. There have been a few comics with male T-X units.

I'm in the minority here.
I voted one of the 2 below averages.

Back when this series started my biggest fear was they were going to over use the terminators and/or have them be supermen.
Well they are starting to push it in my opinion.

Now we have a T-1000 in the series?

In the first season I though they pushed it a little too far with Cameron (and the other terminators) Healing so fast but tonight was over the top.
The jeep explodes and burns to the ground and Cameron doesn't even get her hair singed?
The the floor collapses and she falls in the fire, still no hair singe or even burnt skin?

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket here, I really like the show, so much so I bought the first season when it came to DVD but I feel the show getting silly really fast.

I hope the rest of the season improves from here because I thought this eppy was just crap.

In the first season the Semi was going against the front of the battle droid. This one they were against her back. Plus, as said earlier, Cameron is not a T-888. She is a TOK-715 so not the same type.

That was a tactic to get John to stop. They are programmed with psychology as part of their subroutines. She exploited his feelings for her.

How come she didn't just reach up and rip his head off?

Her mobility functions were immobilized.

It hasn't reached smallville level yet(season 2 was okay for them) but I understand what your saying PKerr. Smallville pulled out the justice league, Zod, kara, Brainiac and doomsday.

Oh I'll continue watching, I stuck with Jericho from beginning to end.
I just don't want this show to start mirroring heroes and pop it's wad in the first season.
I like the direction John is taking, he can't just keep being a puss every episode.
I just don't want there to be a terminator standing on every corner waiting to step in when one gets...well Terminated.

we don't have a terminator salvation thread but TMZ just showed a clip of Arnold "hanging out" with Bale. Cameo maybe? or just wishing them good luck. Salvation did get permission to use his face.
