Well, looks like Man City might go on a rampage. Sky Sports has the new sugar daddy speculating on a 135 million pound transfer of Christiano Ronaldo from Man U in January.
I wonder if Man U would resist if they threw that much money at them?
And apparently rumors of Keegan's demise have been greatly exaggerated. For now.

I can't believe how much man city paid for Robinho, not to sound bitter but he was little more than a 2rd rate winger who started mainly as a sub, he's good at the step overs it's just a shame by the time he's finished stepping over the defense is back and he's still no nearer to beating his man.
Still best of luck to the new future champions of England for like all eternity, I'm just glad Real don;t play in the same league as city as they are going to totally dominate English football once the Arabs start buying up everyone and offering crazy wages such as those now paid to Robinho.

£135m potential bid for Ronaldo? From City? I don't read the news for a couple of days and wake up to find all of football has gone mad.
With the prospect of City potentially buying its way into becoming one of the biggest clubs in the world, I can't imagine that well known England haters Blatter and Platini are pleased watching even more of the power and revenue swing to the English game. In fact, I'm willing to bet Platini's UEFA investigation based upon his opinion that clubs "cheat" when their books don't balance, will go into some sort of overdrive now that Mr. Al-Fahim seems to believe he is playing with Monopoly money.
Which is fine. I won't be sad to see the silly money out of football, particularly since Arsenal's financial house is in order.

I'm a little wary of Man CIty's sugar daddy, he mentioned trying to get Fabregas apparently. Cesc has stated his commitment to the club and I believe he's on contract till 2012, but if Mister Munny throws a cool 30 million Arsene's way...
Anyway, on a different topic, I've been wondering who on the Arsenal team could take up the mantle of captain eventually, I'm not a Gallas naysayer, but I also don't believe he's quite captain material. The other day during the match against Newcastle one of the commentators mentioned that he could see Clichy as a future Arsenal captain. Weird that it never hit me till then, but he almost always puts in a solid performance, always gives 110% and he almost never gets injured. Any thoughts?

I am always puzzled why Gallas was selected Capitan over Kolo Toure.
Same, Toure would have been the more obvious choice. I dunno, maybe Arsene felt Gallas was more experienced, he is 31 compared to Toure's 27.

Gallas is the most experienced member of the squad. I support him as Captain, but Kolo and eventually Cesc are good candidates too. The other choice is Gael Clichy who, despite his young age, is a strong voice in the dressing room and on the pitch.

As far as English football's concerned, it'll at least throw another team into the mix and it won't be the same four qualifying year in, year out. Looks like Arsenal and Liverpool might be vying for one CL spot going forward.

Or better still, get rid of the fourth spot. It's ridiculous it's available to begin with.
Spot on. The reason club v country rows are pointless is because club wins every time. Most fans I know couldn't care less about England. Nor could Ferguson, who routinely pulls his players out with phantom injuries. Then again, he is a Scot.
Why? Spain and Italy get four.
The alternative is to go back to the less competitive format with more minnows getting thrashed by the likes of Madrid and Milan.

I think the whole point around the fourth spot is more along the lines of why should anyone but the Champions qualify anyway.
Gone are the days of the little teams having a decent run and winning the odd final. Nowadays it's rare that many of them make it through beyond the group stage. In fact, even looking at the group stages there are rarely many of them.
Instead, commercialism's taken hold and UEFA make sure that the format of the tournament is condusive to having the best supported teams there instead.
Personally, if that's what they're after I don't understand why they don't go the whole way and just form a European super league.

Didn't they also mention something about trying to get the other Ronaldo as he's been released by Milan? Or did I dream that one up?
Because it would fail, can you imagine how much away tickets would cost having every 2nd ga,e i na different country, especially how much it would cost clubs to be jetting all the way around Europe for 8 months for away games.
I think they should maybe rename the whole CL (the European Cup for the trophy is ok but Champinos League is a little stupid considering majorty of the clubs in it are NOT champions of there own league.

I think it would be more a case of there not really being away fans, unless they were fairly local games. The costs to the club would most likely be offset by TV revenue streams that a superleague would undoubtedly yield. Not to mention the extortionate amount that they would undoubtedly make in marketing and advertising.
Re: the name of the CL, they should just stick with the European Cup.
