If only wishes came true . Also is it me or is Rafa playing Keane out of position ? Should of stayed at Spurs.

Rafael Benitez playing someone out of position!? The only player he plays in position and for more than 3 games in a row is his goalkeeper!

Actually maybe he needs to start rotating again. Can't get any worse than the current line-up can it?

Also, why on earth did Mascherano not play? Sergio Aguero was part of the Olympic team too, and he played for Atletico and was absolutely fine!

They will win the CL again this year and everyone will be happy. Next year will again be their year in the premier league.

    ^They say that every year.

They've got everything going for them. A huge fanbase, billionaire owners, a good manager, their best players are loyal, Champions League football bringing in the money, a massive squad and not such a bad injury list. They have no excuses for going getting on for twenty years without a league title.

As a fan of a club that's going to be skint for the next 17 years, has to make do with kids, sells its best players every summer and still manages to compete, I am not going to feel all that sympathetic to their plight.

Real and Juve in the same group. Those games should be fun.

Well, it's soon to be announced that they are shelving plans for a new stadium, so the ownership bullshit is going to start up again. With no stadium, Hicks will hopefully decide to sell. The Dubai group are still very much interested.

This could be the reason they didn't sanction the Barry deal, as it would have required another loan.

 We are fucking abysmal at the moment, but fortunately we're scraping through with results. Basically the wings are shit, and the midfield doesn't work. The fullbacks weren't giving enough either. Other than that, we're brilliant. We should be signing a winger soon, Mascherano will be back to run midfield, and Gerrard can push forward. Well, after he's recovered.

Masch wasn't registered in the CL squad because we have too many foreign players for the UEFA quota (which is another reason Rafa wanted Barry and Keane), and the squad was still in flux at the time. He'll be in for the group stages without a doubt.

I'm reasonably happy with the CL draw (and I'm delighted we're in it at all!) - Marseille and PSV have both been on the recieving end of some thrashings in the last couple of years, and Atleti are very beatable. They were outfoxed by Gery Megson last season. Will be interesting to see how Torres performs against his old club, and great to see Luis Garcia back at Anfield.

ENG U21 squad has been picked and Micah Richards is in so he won't play in the senior team WC Q/F's. Also Fergie has said Hargreaves will not be match fit for ENG even though he is due to play a part in Utd next 2 games so thats total B.S...

We have no one left with Gerrard & Carrick injured leaving us with 3 recognised central midfielders in Lampard, Barry & Jenas so that means if Hargreaves can run and kick a ball, he is going.

For the 1st time ever I will call on a ENG defeat in a major competitve game, such proves just low my confidence is for ENG, capello was never my 1st choice, I wanted...

Mourinho, O Neill or Big Phil.

ENG to beat Andorra but lose 2-0 to Croatia.

Great hard worker who was simply world class and our best player at the 2002 WORLD CUP but he is past being able to make it at international level.

 god I wouldn't put it past Capello...I think he will tell Fergie that Hargreaves will play since he going to play in next two UTD games. I would say give him 20 minutes against Andorra and then 60 mins should do against Croatia.

Probably might be best to go a standard 5 man midfield and not Capello 3-2-1 bullshit, if Hargreaves might struggle with match fitness.

That's your manager's fault though, if he's going to refuse to spend £30M on a player. Can't believe he played Eboue in midfield. Seriously, what the Hell was up with that?!

Liverpool are weird, it seems Benitez has just continued Houllier's tradition of buying a load of average players when they could spend £30M on one amazing player.

Looks like Curbishly could finally be on his way, especially if they lose to Ince's Blackburn. And Chelski could be missing out on Robinho after already selling shirts with his name (how arrogant can you get ).

No, it's the board's fault for trying to make us believe that we have this money when we clearly don't. We are not falling for it anymore.

I assume you've seen this but I'll link it for anyone who hasn't.

And if you bought a recognised player you'd recoup a lot with merchandising.

And don't complain about having no money. You just got a Champions League windfall. I know you've got a lot of debt on your stadium but at least it's all structured. It's not like you can't take a gamble and sign someone.

^Wenger will never gamble millions on a player again.

He got seriously burned with Richard Wright and Francis Jeffers. Arsenal ended up letting both of them go for nothing after spending £4.5m and £7.5m on them respectively. He always talks about resale value when he's linked with a player too.

You spent a lot of Reyes & Wiltord and they are considered flops so that might be a little harsh on Reyes.

Can anyone think of a 4th midfielder ENG can take ?

Barry, Lampard, Jenas, ??? (Carrick, Gerrard & Hargreaves out) we might need U21 star here.

Was Wiltord a flop? I thought he was quite well regarded.

What if the money is available? It sounds like they are sick of taking the blame for Arsene's intransigence in the transfer market. It's not the first time they have publicly said the money is there, so they'd look pretty stupid if he called their bluff and they couldn't come up with it.

He doesn't have to spend £30 million, just enough to get the midfielder everyone but Wenger thinks the team needs.
