Only last week I was complaining my area has nowhere with Setanta. After the Community Shield and last night, I'm starting to feel quite glad. I think we give the Beeb too little credit in their role for selling off the internationals and thus saving us all the pain of seeing. At least I have Sky - Man City v West Ham on Sunday. Oh lord...
Thanks to Sultana, four of our next five weekend Premier League matches are stupid 5:30pm kick offs. I hate those. 5:30pm is a dumb time to be playing or watching Football. I still say that 10 out of a team's 18 home league matches should kick off at 3pm on a Saturday.
4/5 for ONE team? Ridiculous. I don't mind the 5.30 games too much - it's better than the stupid 12.30 kick-offs (especially after a European week). Setanta are insane though - last year they wanted United v Everton to kick-off at 7.30pm on Christmas Eve. I mean.. .WHAT!? Then again, as SAF said a few months ago, this is to be expected. The FA has given a lot of power to the TV channels, and when you get "into bed with the Devil" you have to take the consequences.
We haven't got a home Saturday 3pm game until the 18th of October when he host Everton and then we don't have another one after that until the 15th of November against Aston Villa.
I managed to find an internet link to watch it on so I've not missed an ENG Live game in years though my patience is begining to wear thin (something I thought I would never say). Redknapp and Venables both came out and blasted Capello for killing Gerrard with that role. Can someone please draw Rooney a diagram on how to be a forward.
I do. And I did watch the replay even knowing the result. It was worse than described in the papers, and the papers deservedly were not at all flattering toward England. Shocking performance. I then watched the US play Guatemala in a WC qualifier which was about as dour (US won). Even then England can call themselves lucky they don't have to play in some of those massively hostile Central American football hell holes that make up CONCACAF. You know the kind, where riot police have to shield the players coming on and off the pitch.
I don't know, some English crowds can be pretty rough. I think I even heard someone shout at the Emirates once, though it could have been the linesman.

Are you kidding? They are still not comparable. Slovakia is much wealthier than all the central American countries. There is a large gap between the richest central American country (Costa Rica) and Slovakia. Okay Macedonia is more on the level of those Central American countries but it's still much better off than the likes of Honduras and Nicaragua.
He'll do better in Italy. It's the pace of the English game that kills him and leads to his mistakes. He usually holds his own in Europe. I'll drive Eboue myself.
He was talking in regards to football violence I guess, but you're probably still right imo (though I don't know much about central American football). Hooliganism and all that is still very much alive in eastern Europe, but they mostly don't care about their national teams, so the atmosphere at such games usually is calm in my experience; on the club level it's different.
Many of these countries, outside of football, have a baseline level of societal violence unmatched in Europe (with rare noted exceptions). Add into the mix many of these countries harbor a deeply bred hatred/resentment of Americans, or at least, the political face of America, which they took out by regularly embarrassing the States on the football pitch. Now that these countries can no longer beat the Americans, the hostility, anger and violence toward the team is that much greater.
