Voyager- The Relaunch

A lot of people are critical to Christie Golden's writing. However, she has at least some affection for the characters which is more than what could be said about the writers of the TV episodes.

This thread really shows how different everyone is and how 2 people can read the same thing and come to completely different opinions.

I have read about 200 Star Trek Books -- And Christie Golden I love. I thought the re-launch was well done (except for the fact that Janeway was promoted to Admiral a little to quickly in my opinion).

I'm glad that Kirsten Beyer is picking it up and I'm confident she'll do a fine job with it.

If I had to critisize Golden, it would be on her style of writing; specifically where one chapter can jump between like 6 side stories. Starts with Torres on Boreth, then to Kim on Voyager, then to Ellis on the Planet, then to Janeway at a conference, then back to Kim, then back to Torres -- well, you get the point.

Other than that, I am thankful for the work she has done.

On a final note, I have seen several writers posting in here, including Kirsten Beyer. I think it is a fanastic thing to see; these writers are actually staying tuned into what fans want and are enjoying, which is much more than some of the tv show execs.

Well, a couple of points-
1) Yes, it should be in Trek Lit.
2) Hate to say it, but the majority opinion, last time I checked, doesn't agree with your own. I haven't read the books myself, but after seeing what other people had to say about them I'm not strongly motivated to either.

"Homecoming" was a great story by Christie Golden. She did a nice job resolving the characters and putting together a story, but the actual writing itself wasn't that good-- and the following novel was almost unreadable.

I much prefer the Ds9 relaunch, book-wise. I'm still engrossed!

The first two books is what Endgame should have been.

Personally, while I do like the Voyager relaunch, I prefer the DS9 relaunch, but then, I felt the same way about the two TV shows.
