"Death Wish" Does Janeway ever tick you off!!!

Just got through watching "Death Wish" and I must say, Janeway is a total IDIOT!

If there's one person you want on your side it's the Q. She put the needs of the one before the needs of the entire crew! She could have been home in the wink of an eye, but no! She's just being good ole Janeway and making stupid decisions!

I don't intend to diasgree, yes Q could have took her home in a snap but ponder on this..
If it were Picard would he have asked for Q's help in bringing the Enterprise back or if Q offerd would he accept?
No Captain wants anything to do with Q, there are always games, lies, tricks or illusions when it comes to Q.

As she stated to him earlier in the show, he's never lied to them before. He tends to keep his word. Plus, he cleared it with the continuum to be able to take them home. Either case, it was another option that was not exploited due to her irrational command tactics.

Pichard, while he hated the Q, never had to face being 70,000 light years away from home with no quick solution to get back. I tend to think he may have given it a little more thought and maybe asked the crew or at least Riker what he thought.

Nonetheless, I love this series and will press on.. I'm watching "Life signs" now!

Q sent Picard and the Enterprise into the hands of a Borg Cube just to proove his point. I don't know if it was stated where he put the enterpris ebut it could have been the Delta Quadrant.

Q sent the Enterprise 7,000 light years from their position in the Alpha Quadrant. When push comes to shove, Picard swallowed his pride and asked Q for help, which is all Q really wanted anyway, and Q sent them back. God forbid Janeway would ever do that. I personally think Janeway made just too many dumb decisions, but they had to be made to keep the show 7 season! Remember Q could have sent her back, the Caretaker Array, The Borg Queen offered to give her Transwarp if she stayed out of Unimatrix issues, and lets not forget that those damn Ferengi made it back but she was too stupid to mess around with them and let the wormhole collapse.

I think the episode in question shows primarily that the needs of the many DON'T always outweigh the needs of the few (or the one).

Blaming Janeway for what she did ... I'm sorry but I agree with her decision.
Q was playing various games with humans.
In this instance he wanted to sway Janeway with an offer to take them home if she rules in the Continuum's favor.

As for Picard ... well, Q brought him and the Enterprise infront of the Borg ship, and wanted to make Picard feel defeated to a point where he'd ask for help and admit that he needs Q's help.
Q ws in no way responsible for Voyager's being in the delta quadrant.
Janeway had a decision to make, and what kind of a SF captain would she be if she accepted the bribe and contributed to an individual of another culture being condemed to an equivalent of suffering when the Federation is baseed on freedom itself?

Why is this particular situation ('Death Wish') compared to the one in 'Q, Who?'

The situations are entirely different.
Picard was literally forced to ask Q for help.
Janeway had the ability to get home on her own (in due time) and there was no immediate threat to the ship (ignoring the chase between the Q's at the beginning of the episode).
Why would she also go completely against the principles of the Federation itself and contribute to virtual suffering of an individual in order to get her crew home?

I don't think there's a large likelihood that Janeway (from any point in the series) would have done such a thing.

Yes, but not before the ruling.
Once he was released from that asteroid confinement, he had his powers just fine.

I suppose that Janeway could have asked Quinn to do that for them ... but the Continuum could just as easily nullify that and return Voyager to the DQ or simply prevent Quinn from returning the crew to the AQ.

Yes, they were, and did strip him of his powers, but it only takes a second to send them home, so he could have done it before they took his powers. Then again, the original Q would have simply brought them back, well, because he can!

No one is denying that. Again, the point was they would have only done it IF Janeway turned Quinn over to them.

So we come back to the question if Janeway made a correct decision.
'Correct' is relative term (like anything else) because each individual will have their own perception of how things should be done.
In my opinion, Janeway behaved as a SF captain and proved that the needs of the many don't outweigh the needs of the few or one all the time.

I think it would have been very selfish of Janeway to condemn Quinn to the prison just in exchange for a possible quick trip home. That is not what Janeway was like
