Are The Cast Teaser Posters Getting You Excited Yet?

Ooooh my first thread in the Star Trek IX fourm...after viewing the thread with the latest cast posters I've decided to become offically excited about this movie which could be a mistake for letting myself down when I actually go see it next summer but whatever. Its been six years, seven by the time it comes out between Star Trek movies, and three years since the last television series. I went through my withdrawal period and now I'm amped up to see JJ's flick. The first notion that I had from seeing the second wave of cast pictures that this isn't going to be your dad's Star Trek movie and the second notion I had after that was...I might be all right with that. This is going to be a different Star Trek movie from the others we've had no matter what the plot is. I don't think we have had a director quite like JJ Abrams before and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he's going to pull this thing off. I want to see the second trailer though...that will probably be make a decisive stand on my feelings towards the movie. So...are you getting excited yet or holding off still because Nemesis left a bad taste in your mouth?

The first cast photos were really cool. The second set...less so. I didn't like the poses and facial expressions as much as the ones in the first set.

I can't wait for the movie...I'm so stoked.

They're pretty cool. They had them at the Vegas con this weekend and they were giving out two per person randomly. I ended up with Kirk and Spock, which were the ones I really wanted. The others are all cool, but the Kirk and Spock ones are awesome.

I got the Uhura and the Romulan at the Comic-Con. (And another Uhura, which was subsequently stolen.)

You and I should put our posters together. We'll be rich beyond the dreams of avarice!

No. Most exciting thing so far was that teaser trailer. I guess the next big thing is the next trailer as far as I'm concerned.

I wish they'd release pictures that weren't so covered in photoshop effects that I can hardly see who the person is supposed to be.

At least in the first poster, Kirk had an impish cocky look, Spock had his usual introspective face, Uhura looked confident, and Nero looked like a bad-ass man with issues. In other words, you could see their personalities.

To be blunt, the McCoy, Scotty, Sulu, Chekov poster is scarry bad, in comparison. All four share basically the same expression: a staged dramatic "Quinn Martin Production" look. Too earnest. C'mon, guys. Look like you're having fun!
And, what would've been wrong with Chekov and Sulu tinted gold?

That said, neither poster makes me more excited for the movie. I'm already probably as excited as a well-adjusted 47 year-old family man should be about nine months before a movie even comes out. However, I do eagerly await more and better cast pictures (groups, I hope) and finally a picture of the Enterprise.

Anton Yelchin (Chekov) poster looks like Dr. Bashir from DS9. As to any excitment, no..not at all. I don't like the art direction at all. They could do much better.

I wasn't that thrilled until I saw that second poster. Harry Kim, Monk, Malcolm Reynolds, and Doctor Bashir are in it? This movies going to kick ass!

The first cast poster got me excited. Other posters and trailer: nothing. I'm waiting for a real trailer with some movie scenes

While I'm at it, I can't wait to hear the music score! Hopefully there will be some bits in the next trailer.

Yeah, because they've released volumes of photos of concept art, production and set pics so you obviously have tons of examples to work off of...

...oh, wait...

For the record they have revitalized some excitemet for me in the film. Much as a man stuck in a well for days is excited for peanut.

The first poster did excite me. I don't dislike the second one as much as some do, but I didn't find it to be as good or interesting, partly because they're the secondary characters I don't care as much for though. (McCoy is the exception, but the angle with Urban wasn't well done).

They are a bone to reasonably excite me. But it's still a year away (Okay, less, but not much) and I'm sure there will be other bones strategically placed throughout the year including cast photos, product photos, and a real trailer at Christmas which will be much more jump up and down excitable.
