Wow, this is really setting up for an explosive season finale! And we have confirmation that the Venture family had a major stake in the formation of the Guild!

I don't think I've ever seen a show that really gave me what I wanted to see from its characters the way this one does. I think I'm seeing Rusty slowly un-become a joke, and when Rusty did the V-sign business with Quizboy, it made me wanna hold my hat.

The grade from me would be a solid A, and each episode increases my anticipation for the next. People visiting this thread in all likelihood know this already, but I really think this series is a diamond in the rough of cable television and I'm glad to hear its ratings have recently reflected increased interest.

Thought it was the best episode of the season. Great stuff all around, although I am really curious what the orb does. Liked the flash backs and I'm guessing the Monarch must be related to one of those in the blimp.

So what do we now know:

-- We know that Jonas Sr. was killed...but maybe not. Maybe Kano pulled a Brook and spared the senior Venture, and Jonas is really in hiding-- my theory

-- We know that the Venture family was at/party to the founding of the guild.

Soild "A". Doc back in style, and interesting moment with him having fond memories, for once, of his dad.

Good, though they seem to be overusing Master Shake...er...the Alchemist.

I think that this episode really solidified the notion that Venture Bros is so much more than a parody of the Jonny Quest/action cartoons of the 60s and 70s. They have put so much work into internal continuity and character/world building that it has transcended mere parody. This wasn't the "funniest" episode by far, yet it was still excellent. Great set up for what I hope will be a mind blowing finale...

I loved the whole backstory and when you let someone talk again after taking a vow of silence they won't shut up.

I watched "The Lepiopterists" and "ORB" back to back. this season is shaping up to be much darker than the others- but I like it. the humor is still there, but what we're learning about this world the characters live is getting much more serious.

what do you think The ORB does?

This will be odd coming from me, but I did not like "Orb". I had to watch it twice to make sure I was correct in my thinking. Things didn't jive with me.

So, Kano apparently killed Jonas Sr, hence his vow of silence, but wasn't he already a mute while serving Jonas Sr?

And I couldn't buy into Brock being so willing to kill Rusty and thinking that his assignment as Venture Family's bodyguard was "ridiculous". Also, if the Orb is so important that the OSI apparently will kill from its secrets from being known, why do they let the Venture family keep it? Why not just take it from them? It seems pretty apparent that they have had the opportunity before.

Ugh...there were just a lot of things that simply did not work for me. On a side note, is it me, or did the audio during the flashbacks seem off. I had a real hard time hearing what Sandow was saying due to an overabundance of background noise. I thought it was just my reception, but it was the same on the Adult Swim Video.

On the flip side, seeing an early version of the Guild that was good was interesting (and a cool reference to LXG). Also, seeing NYC with all the Bribsy stuff was awesome. And the banter between Pete and Al was great.

I loved this episode! Moreso than any episode before it, it really built a larger fundamental story at the heart of the series, rather than just be a joke and play on previous concepts. The Guild originated as good guys? Wow. And this Orb thing is a great idea.

The whole time I thought they were going to discover Jonas Sr living in hiding, either in a bunker under the compound or at that art museum. So I was thrown there. I'm still convinced he's alive.

And any return appearance of Hunter Gathers is welcome indeed!

So who do you think was in the car that hit Brock? Was that the ex-bodyguard psycho mommie's car or Brock's car? Or will it be something even more shocking like Jonas Sr?

I had to rewatch the flashback a few times to understand what was said. I wish the internet version had optional subtitles.

I'm pretty sure the car was empty and was on auto-pilot.

I'm becoming more convinced that Jonas Sr. is alive too, at least in some form. I think it would be more likely that he is in suspended animation or used some kind of time travel device rather than just being hidden away somewhere. That way they could have him still in his prime and not as an elderly version of himself.

However, Venture Bros seems to like to throw us for loops, so maybe the trail of clues that leads to that assumption isn't as clear as it may seem on the surface...

Jonas Venture and the original Team Venture are the leaders of the Guild of Calamitous Intent. This whole season keeps running my mind back to that theory And last night topped it off with Col. Venture being part of a guild that appears that have been where the faction behind the guild sprang from.

I so hope not as it would fly in the face of everything else established about Team Venture. Besides, it was established that David Bowie is the leader of the GoCI.

If Jonas Sr. is still alive (which I'm not that convinced of), I think that wouldn't be revealed until the final season/episode. The show, I think, would change too much to make Jonas Sr. a continuing character (in the present). I really like only having snippets of him in random flashbacks where we the viewers are to fill in the blanks of what he was really like.

Ah but how brilliant would it be if Jonas Sr came back, took over the compound and innocently belittled the bejesus out of Rusty, squaring all his daddy/failure issues?

Kano seemed to be a mute before Jonas Sr died, so I don't think Kano killed him. This was a really good episode, but I enjoyed last week's a little bit more. Wasn't this supposed to be a full 20 episode season or something?

See...that would change the dynamic of the show too much and would really only work if the series was coming to an end.

Not quite. Adults Swim ordered 26 more episodes after season 2 ended. At first it seemed like it was going to be a 26 episode third season, but Jackson Publick later explained that 26 episode order was really more like ordering 2 13-episode seasons.

I hope that the wait between 3 and 4 is less than between 2 and 3.

I am really digging this season as it has been a bit disjointed, but all the pieces are falling into place.

I'm a bit miffed why Brock's car tried to kill him. Maybe it hates Led?
