August Art Contest : Back To School!

It's that time of year and people are getting ready to head back to school or have just recently done so, so in the spirit of returning to a life of pop quizzes and homework, this month's theme will challenge the artists to depict anything relating to school in the Trek universe. Design new cadet uniform from Starfleet Academy, a 24th century blackboard, show us what the mascot of the fabled Zephram Cochrane High School looks like.

If it's scholastic and it's Star Trek, it's open for interpretation in this contest. The curriculum is broad and I accept any medium your work. One rule...no late work accepted! Be sure to turn in your entries to Ptrope (ptrope at gmail dot com) no later than midnight local time August 31st 2008. Grading will commence soon after.

Crack open those books, students. Class is in session!

Is only drawing accepted? Or what about written work? If the latter, I've got a vignette ready to go already. Otherwise I'm going to have to try and draw it, and God only knows if THAT will work out in time...

What exactly are smart boards? I mainly just used the term "blackboard" as a general description of that thing at the front of the classroom that the instructor writes on.

I'd like to keep the entries to visual art media, any written work would be better suited for the Fan Fiction forum. I'd imagine it'd be rather hard to judge a contest with both visual and written artwork.

It doesn't have to be drawn, however. Any visual medium is fine.

this is about as high tech as i can imagine, they have a few faults that would be improved when better technology comes along, but the interface is really perfect for schools and the concept is hard to improve on. its a computer white board with a touch screen and a projector. they are a lot of fun to play with. they'll probably be pretty commonplace in a few years.

how did my explanation of a smartboard get separated from the original question about what it was?
i am so confused
was it assumed that this was an entry? it was a reference to the obsolescence of the reference to a futuristic blackboard when the idea already exists.
