Oh, why didn't you say your intent was to steal someone's artwork off the Internet and print it yourself? You would have saved everyone the time of trying to help you in that endeavor.
You know you're absolutley correct. BTW, could you give me the details on exactly when you received permission from the copyright holder to use that picture for your avatar? Mr. Pot, Mr.Kettle would appreciate it if you'd stop throwing stones in that glass house that you currently live in. For the record, I made my intentions pretty clear.
Borg451 had no problem figuring out what I was getting at. I didn't think I'd have to use small words for the rest of you.
As for helping me with my enadeavor--
YOU DIDN'T! Here's the deal, I made a simple request, you could either choose to provide the information or not. Did you see a poll at the top of this thread? Do you recall me asking for yours or anyone else's opinion regarding copyright infringement? By the same token do you recall asking anyone to do a Google search for me? The answer is no on all counts. So why do you think it's your business to chime in with your opinion when I call another poster out for one, not reading my post completely (just as you didn't) and two, being a smartass about it? Who asked for your opinion?
Your non-sequitirs notwithstanding, what you and others like you don't seem to be able to to get through your heads is that my annoyance comes from the fact that a memeber responded to my original post without reading it completely (just like you) and then when on to make a smartass comment.
"the convention" -- Of course there's only one, right? This could just as easily meant "the convention I'm going to in three months". Not everyone on this board is in Las Vegas right now, you know.
Well, let's see here: I started this thread the day the convention began, there have been multiple threads started discussing the upcoming Vegas Convention with one of them being six pages long and at the top of General Discussion for over a month, oh and if you bothered to look at my location under my avatar you'd notice that
I LIVE IN FLIPPIN' LAS VEGAS. What did you think, I was making a request for something for 3 months down the road in Cleveland or something. Try connecting the dots better next time, Columbo. Again, I'll have to make things simpler next time and use small words.
Maybe you should think about planning ahead next time, eh? And stop being so rude to people who are trying to help you.
Not that it's any of your business but it was a last minute idea and as I already mentioned (again, if you'd bothered to read the post completely) I had an alternative. As for being rude... listen, junior: rude is when you comment on someone's post that you didn't thoroughly read to begin with and then make a smartass comment about it. Rude is when you opine off-topic in someone elese's thread when you haven't read the original post completely. Rude is when criticize somebody for attempting to engage in behavior that you are currently blatantly engaged in yourself (small words time: see your avatar image).
You're being awfully belligerent for someone who was attempting to infringe upon the artist's copyright. Many Trek artists and writers frequent this board, and I'm sure they would not appreciate someone trying to get their works without paying for them. Time constraints or not, what you're trying to do is illegal and unethical, yet you have the nerve to criticize these people trying to help you.
Hey! Who the fuck asked you for your opinion? It's my thread I can be as belligerent as I want. The problem I have, again, is the fact that nobody around here (obviously your included in that) has enough courtesy to read a post before making smartass commetns. That's my complaint. I'm not getting into the merits or arguments about copyright infringement with anyone. That wasn't the point. I made a request for a link, not a google search, and certainly not a smartass comment.
You have the artist's name, website and the ability to purchase this painting. I suggest you take those in good faith. Perhaps the next convention you will be ready, instead of waiting until the last minute to do something that was unethical in the first place.
J.
You are so completetly full of shit. I'll tell you what, I'll do that when you show me that you have permission to have all of the images, videos, music and software on your computer. Perhaps next time, you'll mind you're own flippin' business.
Again, my problem isn't with the help (or lack therof). If people feel that they have a moral obligation to not provide the information, that's fine. My problem is with you jokers who don't have enough courtesy to read a post completely and then make smartass comments.
