FILK question- starting a trek band!!

Hello all- this is my first post here, so I’m sorry if it’s in the wrong place- but I wanted to get some info on FILKING!!

I’m starting a Trek-themed rock band, and I was wondering if any of you in your experiences at conventions have encountered live music being played; and if so, would you know how a rag-tag team of trek-loving up and comers like us could get on the bill?

We’ve just begun recording our first hit single, entitled “I wanna be an Andorian” and we can’t wait to let the whole world hear it!

Wow, that is great, torifan666! We got a big kick out of the band in "Trekkies," and we often sing the "getting fatner with William Shatner" line. Very catchy; you could be immortalized.

are you willing to expand beyond just trek songs.
because if so there are a lot of sf conventions that have slots set aside for filkers or bands.
really go to a good convention listing site and starting checking out convention web sites.
look at their programming and see if you could fit in if not this year next./

ah- thank you very much pookha. of course we'd love to play to a crowd of trekkies, but we're willing to cut our teeth on some babylon 5 and/or quantum leap crowds!

pookha could you, or could anyone else recommend a good convention-listing site? preferably one specifically for the NY-metro area?
