For the general public if Trek doesn't even exist, isn't it in Paramount's best interest to get the hype going from now on? If Watchmen, T4 and Wolverine can do so, why not ST?
Well, I hang around a lot of science fiction media places, and see a lot of movie trailers. So far I've seen nothing of "Watchmen" - only that I read in "Starlog" a few years ago it was about to be made at last, and a friend bought a reprint of the graphic novel last week to bone up on what was coming.
I had no idea there were plans for another "Terminator" - isn't Arnie too busy for that one?
And I know "Wolverine" has been lensing but only because some of it was filmed right here in Sydney, and Hugh Jackman tends to talk about his various projects on the local chat shows.
However, of the movies you mention, so far ST XI is the film I know most about. I saw a Starfleet insignia poster - with blue and gold uniform colours on it - all over the place. Any member of the general public who went to "Cloverfield" saw a great teaser trailer - it's a new ST movie and it's got that guy from "Heroes" in it, and JJ Abrams of "Lost" is directing, and Nimoy's coming out of retirement for it, and Shatner's complaining about not being in it while promoting his new autobiography - and those four new posters are all over the www and in "Entertainment Weekly" magazine.
