Who do you like better, Seven or Kes?

There was an absolute gold mine of potential material to explore with a Kes / Seven friendship. The fact it didn't happen counts for me as one of Voyager's biggest missed opportunities.
Hmm, never thought of it that way but I think you're right.

Now how on earth am I to live that one down? ;)
With considerable difficulty, of course. I'll see to it personally. :D

I can imagine an episode where someone, quite conflicted is in love both Seven and Kes, who can't shit or get off the pot, who eventually says "Together you're the perfect woman." ...Yes Seven's personality inside Kes' body, that's what everyone wants for Kristmas.

Am I the only one that prefers Kes with her little elf wig? Shes too short for long hair IMO.

No, you're not the only one.

OK, she did look good in long hair, no doubt about that. But she did look even better with the short haircut. I also liked it because it was a sort of trademark for her, it made her Kes if you understand what I mean. With the long hair she looked just like an ordinary Star Trek character, one of those we have seen so many times before.

Hmmm, I understand what you mean, but I thought she had a very natural beauty with her long hair. It made her look older, more mature.

Two very good characters and actresses. But I think I like Kes more; regardless of hairstyle. ;)

Yes! Kes' head on 7's body.

Kes, Kes a million times Kes.

Kes asks you if you want to be glued to her and have sex for 50 hours, meanwhile, well... Seven's a virgin. Most people are backward in thinking who is most forward proponent of sexuality between the two, since Seven was a coldfish, and Kes was open and loving. Seven thought she was some sort of goddess, meanwhile Kes apotheosized. Seven bragged about her book smarts after the Borg cheated and crammed terrbytes of unwanted stolen information in her head against her will, meanwhile Kes just loved to learn and did so at superhuman speeds because she's brainy. Seven thought she could melt people with her glare, and Kes could. Seven loved someone so much that she created a gimp playtoy of them to act out all her emotional needs upon like rape by proxy, meanwhile Kes loved some one so much that she gave him a lung. Seven had perfect hair, but Kes still looked astonishing even though it looked for the most part like a Tribble had defecated her. Seven had so little sense of Style that the Doctor organized her wardrobe like she was his barbie doll, and Kes had her own unique dress sense while she mastered and outstripped every talent of the Doctor until he was just a tool that assisted her...

The list goes on.

This is a great argument for Kes. Standing them side by side, Seven's force of personality would easily upstage Kes; yet for character, Kes clearly had more depth. Seven's appearances, especially once it became clear she was going to shoulder her way into the fore of every episode, were dry, and possibly supposed to appeal to a fanboy's masochistic desire to be dominated?

Kes was too soft, and Seven too hard for my taste. B'Elanna was more normal and I preferred her, the only female on the crew that wasn't way out on a limb (her "Klingon" temper was normal in my family).

I knew I could count on you! ;)

I really, really.really liked Kes the best. The honey voice, those big blue eyes and the sexy smile all got to me.
The kind of the girl next door type.

Dont get me wrong,I did like 7 of 9,but she was a bit cold for my taste.no pun intended.

I think that they would have made an interesting team.but alas it was not to be so we shall never know.

H200

my favorite is Kes
her voice is magical

Seven on the other hand, is a robot . . . with huge boobs

A ratings stunt. Nothing more. Same with T'Pol.

And that's why I prefer Kes. With her, there are no distractions and you can follow the show.

Seven of Nine was actually one of the reasons I gave up on Voyager. She was clearly a ploy for the teenaged boy demographic--I mean, the catsuits...ugh.

I didn't particularly like Kes, but I could at least see why she was there as a character.

I missed most of Voyager's first run (local TV stations sold, schedule changing, etc), but heard guys at work drooling over Seven. So I was prepared to hate her when I got the DVD's, because of the obvious sex ploy angle. But I couldn't. Ryan did a fantastic job with the part itself. (FWIW, pretty much the exact same scenario with T'Pol in my book).

But, Kes. Kes is the one for me. That sweet caring little elf thing going on, in conjunction with the super sexy voice, and I'm lost a cause.

Seven was one of my favourite characters, she wins hands down in my book.

Kes was better with the short hair but overall I found her a little boring and occasionally quite annoying. I wasn't particularly bothered when Kes left.

It would have been neat for Seven and Kes to become good friends as time went on. Kes would have been a huge help to Seven when she first became unassimilated. It's too bad Kes hasn't been in the relaunch novels some how.

This is a tough one. I have a soft spot for characters who the show writers tend to drop the ball with (and they freely admit that they didn't know what to do with Kes). But Seven is also one of two characters who evolved from her first appearance to the end of the series, though it was at the expense of the others. I know she came onto the show mainly out of the 'need for sex appeal' but at least she had some character.

Like it's been suggested above, I think the idea of Kes and Seven developing a friendship is a fascinating one. No offense to the Doctor, but I think Kes would have been an even better teacher of being human than he was, because of her empathic nature. The Doctor was just teaching her straight from the interests he developed from his learning of humanity, but Kes would have likely have encouraged her towards other avenues.

Also, for crying out loud, having both on board would have resolved the absolutely silly situation of the Doctor's SOLE nurse being the ship's best pilot, who would need to be at the helm when there are numerous casualties.

Definetly KES but she wasn't well written, it was the writters fault.

BTW: Jeri Ryan is awesome eye candy, but i prefer the "Girl next door" type in Kes.
