Im watching Platos stepchildren at the moment and Spock is doing the "Spanish tap" (Flamenco dancing?) arround Kirks head.

Well it sure looks to me like some bloke in a Spock wig.
(Of course I could be wrong - but probably not)

I cant think of any right now, but Im sure there are others.

The Mirror Spock stunt double in the sickbay fight scene of that episode was painfully NOT Nimoy-esque in hair texture.

Well, it's not the actual stunt. But when he falls down and is caught by the soldiers, it's not Walter Koenig lying there, it's a mannequin.

So in TV production, what is the "line" that must be crossed before a stunt double is used? I can see where in obvious places, when an actor's safety is at risk, a stuntman needs to be brought in. But sometimes we see Shatner doing his own stunts (and doing them fairly well) and other times it's obviously a double and it seems uneccessary.

Is it a "union" thing?
