Logan and Wheeler investigate the world of amateur boxing.

Damnit, sorry about the late review thread. I completely forgot it was on tonight. Hopefully it was good. I'll check it out tomorrow. :o

Thanks for forgetting this thread. I had to watch the episode at midnight. :p

I thought this was one of the better episodes, but then again, I only watch half of them. :) At least the perp didn't spend the final five minutes confessing the entire plan this time.

The girl was hot.

Also, remember when the cops were talking to Peter at his place after Gabriel had died, and Peter said something that made Logan give him a funny curious look? Anyone remember what that was? Because I don't think it was followed up on.

Wouldn't the title be "Ten Count" rather than "Ten Court," since it's boxing-related? Although given that the brothers were named Peter and Gabriel, maybe it should've been called "Sledgehammer."

A better episode than usual for this season, and there were several credible suspects that it was hard to choose between (though the sleazy promoter and the rival boxer were obvious red herrings). Although ultimately they did fall back on the predictable rule that the big-name guest star is the killer. But they did give it a tragic twist, with Peter probably going away for at least manslaughter. But ultimately Gus was responsible for that as well, by giving Peter back his "killer instinct." Talk about being hoist by one's own petard....

Excellent episode. Interesting murder mystery and nice character piece for Mike Logan. I was really impressed by how well controlled he was over his temper (until the confrontation with Gus and even then he was holding back). I really felt for him when in regards to what happened with Peter.

I just rewatched that scene and I didn't see that. Perhaps you're thinking of another scene?

Oh, you're right. I simply misread the title when I put up the thread.

Yeah, it might have been predictable but I thought the episode was well executed on a levels. I especially thought the interrogation of Peter with Logan behind the mirror was particularly well directed.

Yeah, I was expecting Logan to get into the ring with Gus. And even though I loathe boxing as a barbaric blood sport, I kind of regretted not seeing that from a dramatic/character perspective. But it would've been a little too melodramatic, I suppose.

I noticed that too. Good composition.

I always liked the Logan episodes better than the Goren ones. This one was no exception. Easily one of the best - especially that final shot of Peter, saddened, alone in his boxing ring...then the camera pans down to reveal the blood all over his shirt.

(Peter definitely won't be on the hook for murder - in fact if he gets a good enough lawyer, he may be acquitted altogether, particularly since Gus ordered his brother killed)

Now more than ever I'm pissed off that Chris Noth is leaving.

And strangely enough, the other day I was thinking of when exactly Miguel Ferrer would guest-star on L&O.

Didn't catch the "Peter" and "Gabriel" joke, although it does fit!

Nice to see that the writers remembered that Wheeler spent a lot of time in the UK (as evidenced by her use of the word 'mobile' rather than 'cell phone').

Oh, I missed that. Good catch!

I guess I've watched enough UK shows that I'm pretty accustomed to someone calling a cell phone a mobile.

Yeah, but can that be proven? The only person who allegedly heard Gus's confession was the guy who beat him to death, so it would be difficult to prove that Gus was the killer. And Peter was himself a suspect in Gabriel's homicide; the prosecution could argue that he killed Gabriel, then killed Gus and told the cops it was because he'd learned Gus was the killer.

I mean, Peter had a clear motive for killing Gabriel: jealousy that their father figure Gus respected Gabriel more. I don't even remember what Gus's motive allegedly was, but we pretty much only have Peter's word for it.

Yeah, but can that be proven?

If the actual people who committed the murder (the gunman, the girl, and her accomplice/boyfriend) could be located, then I think so.

^ The girl was the dead OD victim they found.

Okay, I recorded the rebroadcast so I could look at the scene I was talking about. It was actually the scene at the police station where Gus IDs the girl. Peter says something along the lines of: "I've never seen this girl before. She got my brother killed." And Logan has that funny look, like maybe he suspects Peter?
