Pixar "Up" (official thread)

Teaser

From Comic-Con:

The hero of the film is a 78-year-old man named Carl Fredricksen, who walks around hunched over with a tripod cane. When he was a kid he met a girl named Ellie, who grew up in small midwestern town. The two fell in love and eventually got married. Her dream was always to explore the world and visit paradise falls, but as usually happens, life got in the way. They were never able to make good on their promise, and Ellie eventually passed away. Now Carl is a widower living alone in his small home. Developers are threatening to move him into an old folks home.
Can't wait for it! :techman:

I wonder how they're going to sell toys for this movie. It seems to have no fantastical elements(talking cars, robots, talking toys)

The 44 seconds we saw reminds me of Pixar Shorts and they're usually always great. I love Geri's game.

I'm there. This is so different that I just can't wait to see it. Plus it's Pixar and their worst movie (Cars) still had loads of charm in it and never felt like a waste of my moviegoing money.

wow, very differnt for Pixar(or any Hollwood animation for that matter.) Its like the type of animated film the French would do...

I'd say that's a good thing. Not counting The Incredibles, I was getting a little tired of movies about talking [blank].

Color me intrigued.

I just saw Wall-E last night, i'm continually amazed at Pixar's ability. It was so good. I swear every damn Pixar movie, I see the teaser or first information and think "wow that doesn't sound very interesting, are they losing the magic?" then the film is fantastic. Again.
Finding Nemo, Cars, and Wall-E, same reaction. Incredibles always looked great though.

Interesting teaser. Of course I'm looking forward to it, it's Pixar.

Exactly. How anyone could possibly have any doubts about a Pixard release at this point is far beyond my comprehension. The only movie they've made that has even come remotely close to being a let down was A Bugs life and even that was a pretty good movie.

Apparently he also meets up with a young park ranger and they go on wild adventures together. So that's probably where the fantasy will come in.

Plus, he's flying around in a house attached to a bunch of colourful balloons.
