No Star Trek Novelization?

No, here's the real scoop: They're going to use a time machine to resurrect Gene Roddenberry to write the novelization, complete with all his sloppy stylistic techniques like overused italics* and excessive preoccupation on the disturbingly erotic anatomy of the female leads.

*And gratuitous, conversational footnotes in which I, Admiral James T. Kirk, address the reader in the first person. Hey, how about that female anatomy on Rachel Nichols?
*shudders*

What's Friedman doing these days?

Maybe it'll be a non-ST writer, like that guy who did the nuBSG pilot novelisation, Jeffery A Carver.

Christopher, I realize you're taking the piss, but there are people who are going to take you seriously. Like they took Margaret's joke about six starships left post-Destiny seriously. ;)

If there are people who seriously believe Roddenberry's going to be resurrected via time machine, then they're too far past reality to be helped...

Dear Pocket,

Please release a parody novel in Gene Roddenberry's writing style. I don't care how, and I don't care when, but it would make me ever so happy.

Newsarama says there wil be a IDW comic lead in to the movie

IDW will also present an epic tale that leads into the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Trek movie due next summer. Abrams and screenwriter Roberto Orci will contribute to the comic book story, too.

Perhaps there will be a graphic novel adaptaion of the movie as well as a novelization?
Perhaps the movie novelization will be written by JJ Abrams?

With all the various film and television projects Abrams is heading or otherwise involved in, I would be amazed if he also had time to write a book on top of it all.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Seems unlikely. He never wrote any of the ALIAS or LOST novels. Or the novelization of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3, for that matter.
