Quinto's Spock May Be Different

Carpe Occasio

Zachary Quinto... based his characterization as much on the film's script as on Nimoy's previous performance of the iconic character.

"I really felt like my relationship to the character was specific to the text I was playing and to the world in which the character is being created right now, this time," Quinto said... "So I didn't feel beholden to Leonard, other than to honor the origins of what he created, obviously. But I think the whole project was based in that philosophy, so it wasn't a problem."

Qunito plays Spock at an early stage in the character's life. Nimoy also appears in the film, presumably as an aged version of the character, though Abrams and writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have remained coy about the exact storyline.

What next? There are multiple interpretations of Hamlet? Only Ethan Hawke could do the role justice.

I was already expecting Quinto's portrayal of Spock to be different considering his playing a much younger version of him.

Damn, guess there's no Kirk/Spock slash in the film. Damn you JJ. This is gonna be teh suxage! It's a non cannon Trek of suckitude flick!!!!!

Bite your tongue, mister. Only Mel Gibson has the right to play Hamlet... okay, I couldn't get through that statement even in jest without a little vomit at the back of my throat.

Maybe this is an inside joke that I'm not getting, but will the "new" Spock be gay? Wouldn't that make tha "old" Spock gay too?

Star Trek hasn't touched much on homosexuality has it? Other than LT Hawk in First Contact, who was supposed to be gay.

Agreed Admiral...Spock IS different in THE CAGE. To play him as the cold distant spock would be wrong. Maybe, in fact, they will disclose why he did become such a distant person..maybe something happens that shocks him back to being a real cold ass vulcan..
