Lingering Questions from 'The Dark Knight'...

When the Joker was disguised as a Cop he was not wearing any makeup.

Possibly, but I don't think so. Bruce saved his ass!

I did not understand this whole section of the film. The guy was an employee of Bruce Wayne right? Not directly but for Wayne Tech. When he went to that TV reporter would not he have been questioned about what proof he had of Batman's ID? Would not the fact that he works for Bruce Wayne send up some very big flags as to the source of his claims????

I also did not understand the hospital thing. Why were the family members of dirty cops in the hospital and how did the Joker know about this?

Oh another thing, When the Joker was first arrested
WHY DID THEY NOT CLEAN OFF THE MAKEUP??????

They did everything they could to identify him but did not want to see what he looks like with out the makeup? Didn't they take a mugshot of him?

Well, I wonder if maybe it wasn't "really" makeup. I know it was getting smeary and smudgey there for a bit, but it still may not have been make-up in the world of the film but some-kind-of other skin condition.
No, I think it was makeup. You could see it coming off and his hair color fading out when he was in police custody.

Did not catch that. Interesting.

So, yeah, I guess that is a good question on why the police didn't remove his make-up. The Glasgow Smile looks stunningly creepy.

I understand why they would not want to show him in police custody out of makeup. It takes away the mystique. But its a rare case of the filmmakers not coming up with a realistic explanation. It reminds me of the 60s tv series in which the villains wore their full costumes and makeup in prison!!! But maybe some cut dialogue explained it.

I got it! He used his own formulation of make-up and only he has a remover that can work on it! It can still get smudgey when he roughed up though.

;)

But Two-Face WILL re-flip his coin if he doesn't like the result.

I remember that from Batman Forever, but I'm almost positive that in the comics (as well as in The Dark Knight), he binds himself to the result of the first coin flip.
That is the only time that he's ever been shown to flip the coin again. It created quite a stir with Batman fans when that movie came out. Having him filp the coin again and again until he got a desired result went against character history and made the coin itself a bit redundant.
Exactly.

Two-Face would only flip the coin once to make a choice. If he were to flip it again, he would then change the choice. For example with Boss Maroni: he flipped the coin and it came up good, so Maroni was spared. However, Two-Face flipped the coin again and changed the choice. Maroni couldn't die, so his driver then had too. Either way, Maroni somehow was going to be screwed.

However, my question is: why was it such a big deal to keep Anthony Micheal Hall's character such secret?

New question... What's the current state of Wayne Manor's reconstruction? I would really have liked to see one throw away seen with Alfred and Bruce surveying the laying of the new foundation.

Didn't they mention it when they were showing us his substitute "batcave"?

With the movie being so long, and a lot of lines and scenes re-cut from what we saw in promos and clips, I'm pretty sure there is at least 30 minutes of cut scenes, if not more. I hope the DVD is unrated extended director's cut. :)

Me too. I was surprised at how separate this story felt from the first film. The absence of any scenes at Wayne Manor, in any state of repair, is a big reason for that. So much of what is step up in the first film has been destroyed by the end of this one. Wayne Manor, The Batcave, The Batmobile, the first Batsuit, and the Batsginal. Not that is bad thing. But its VERY STRIKING! Everything which Bruce had established in his Batman identity has been destroyed.

I disliked that Harvey came up with that 'solution' about the driver, acted recklessly but managed to get out himself.

So did Batman and the Joker never interact in the year between the films?

When Gordon encounters Bats sometime after the garage scenes there some inference that The Joker has been active in the inervening time but Bats hasn't yet really encountered him face-to-face and has been picking up the pieces. The events of this movie would seem to suggest that The Joker was just now getting more ambitious, possibly coinciding with the money drop/deal with the Japanese company.

I have a question, maybe I just missed something:
When Batman had to choose between saving Dent or Rachel, he runs out of the building with Gordon yelling the question "Who are you going after?" And Batman responds "Rachel".

But he ends up saving Dent? And Gordon ends up heading to Rachel? I don't understand that part.

Joker "mixed up" the locations of the two. On purpose, of course. Probably because he knew Bats would go for Rachael and he wanted to "hurt" him with her death. I'm not entirely sure how The Joker would know that the police wouldn't make it to the other party too late to save them.

I was confused by that as well but I thn thought I just misheard him nd he really said Harvey. Or maybe Gordon asked him who he (Gordon) should go after and Batman told him Rachel.

This was likely just a problem with my theater. But I could hardly hear Gordon's last speech/monologue. The music's bass was so loud that it drowned out what he said!!! Very annoying!!!!

That happened in my theater too. THe sound was too loud so it distorted Oldman's voice.
