Lingering Questions from 'The Dark Knight'...

Because I am also assuming now Liu is dead.
He's definitely dead. He was sitting on top of the huge pile of money burned by The Joker.

Tried to resolve the numbers of Two Face's killing spree in second viewing. It still doesn't really make much sense. The first viewing, I only thought he killed 2 people.

1: He is shown killing Wuertz

2: He is shown killing Maroni's driver

3: The seat belt is a device to show Maroni probably dies in the crash

4: Ramirez. Either he lied about the coin toss (maybe someone who actually saw the coin can correct me), or reflipped. Since she is responsible for Rachel, there is no way he was going to leave without killing her. "Live to fight another day". By punching her, could basically be starting a new fight with her (a stretch). But, Gordon did say Dent killed two cops. These are the two cops Dent defames at the beginning of the movie. It has to be Wuertz AND Ramirez no matter how it went down with her. Plus, if she lived the whole cover story would fall apart.

5: Can't figure it out.

Perhaps we will find out with the DVD release. The answer might lie in cut scenes.

The two other people that he killed were never shown, I think that is meant to tell us that he simply was busy off screen.
He might have had to kill a cop when Gordon's family got the warehouse or where ever. Didn't Mrs. Gordon say there were cops outside her house?

For some reason, I seem to remember Two-Face reflipping once or twice in the animated series, but I could be greatly mistaken.

I haven't even seen Batman Forever.

I was able to come up with two things quickly to back up what I said in my earlier post about the coin flip.

First is from Wikipedia

History and analysis

Dent's disfigurement brings out his latent multiple personality disorder and transforms him into the villainous Two-Face. Obsessed with duality and opposites, Two-Face's trademark is crimes involving duality (the constant and obsessive use of the number two). Furthermore, his related obsession with opposites reveals itself in such "quirks" as wearing clothes with dramatically different materials on each side.
Another of Two-Face's trademarks is that he does not always go through with his evil deeds; every time he contemplates committing a crime, he flips a two-headed coin, one side of which is scratched. Only if the coin comes up scratched-side does Two-Face commit the crime, never questioning the result of the toss. Recent interpretations portray this compulsion as a struggle between Dent's evil "Two-Face" personality and his former, law-abiding self.

The second is from Batman-On-Film

Fans complained about how "Harvey Two Face" was depicted in BATMAN FOREVER. As portrayed by Jones (see left), he was a cackling, campy, over the top clown, often playing second fiddle to Jim Carey's Riddler.
Also going against the Batman mythos, this Two Face would flip his coin until he got the desired outcome -- rather than allowing chance settle the issue.

I personally think that Harvey is still alive, locked away in an institution to be rehabilitated.

My big question is; what happened after Batman went off the roof chasing after Rachel? He just left the Joker standing in a room of Gotham's elite. I'm thinking it was dealt in a cut scene somewhere.

Also.. just because I want to share... the Dark Knight is going to be my excuse to buy Blu-Ray and one of those sexy new Phillips televisions.

The Joker was guarded by the cop he eventually used as a hostage. I noticed the broken glass behind him before the cop went to try and beat on him and knew that was how he would get out of there. I also figured out that the other prisoner had a bomb in his stomach once he said that The Joker had messed with his insides.

As far as Harvey being alive....
If they want to bring the character back at some point, the could always say that he survived the fall and was locked away in Arkham, perhaps in a coma, under a pseudonym.

Years after The Big Sleep came out, Raymond Chandler received a letter from an intense fan who wanted to know who had killed the chaffeur - the murder that sends Phillip Marlowe into the invetigation that fuels the plot. Chandler wrote back to say, "I have no idea who killed him. I needed a death to get things rolling, so he died."

Sometimes even great stories have loose ends - these have long been fodder for fans to exercise their imaginations. There's a good possibility Two-Face killed the bartender along with Wurtz (thus how he gets into the bar in order to kill Wurtz). That would be civilian death number 3. Maybe he then goes on to kill the other Ramirez - Berg, the cop who is with Gordon who attempts to kill the guy who plans to expose Bruce Wayne, before discovering that it is the female Ramirez who betrayed Rachel. (Now that was confusing. Two cops named Ramirez, both with family members in the hospital, both corrupt because of it.)

And it's Lau, not Liu (which is pronounced 'Lew'). Seems to me the Chinese government would simply disown any businessman accused of corruption, lest they lose face. They are far more intolerant of criminal behavior than our society is. It's also been my impression that they consider citizens rather expendable. It might even be an opportunity for Party members to take over a lucrative business. Suffice it to say, there are many reasons they might simple let the situation go. They also might, in a very Chinese way, just file it back for later action.

This is not good. At the end of the next Batman movie, some Chinese agents will appear out of nowhere to kidnap Gordon as retaliation and put him on a freighter to China.

When Batman warned Gordon about multiple cops with family members in Gotham General, I'm pretty sure "Ramirez,Berg" was referring to two last names. Gordon already knows about Ramirez and she isn't in the car so it's not a problem for him. Berg was just Berg.

I thought the Joker ran after throwing Rachel out the window
He did. I must have been reading wrong when I quoted the post I replied to. I thought BoxWhatBox was talking about when Batman went after Rachel when she was tied up in the warehouse. So, ignore my above response. :)

Ohhhhh. That makes much more sense. I thought Berg Ramirez was a bizarre name, but hey, I once met someone named Yoon Kang-O'Higgins, so who knows, in America, right?

So, maybe Two-Face took out Wurtz and Berg, and just punched Ramirez, who, in her guilt over Rachel, went along with the cover up about Harvey.

See, simple fan solutions. ;)

When Batman See, simple fan solutions. ;)

Okay, speaking of solutions. One of the big questions from Batman Begins was answered by the Dark Knight. Why didn't anyone recognize the Tumbler as being a Wayne Tech product, and put two and two together. Well someone did in this film, and I love it! Especially, Lucious's response to his attempt at blackmail.

He's still a problem, especially now that Batman's a fugitive.

Possibly, but I don't think so. Bruce saved his ass!

I did not understand this whole section of the film. The guy was an employee of Bruce Wayne right? Not directly but for Wayne Tech. When he went to that TV reporter would not he have been questioned about what proof he had of Batman's ID? Would not the fact that he works for Bruce Wayne send up some very big flags as to the source of his claims????

I also did not understand the hospital thing. Why were the family members of dirty cops in the hospital and how did the Joker know about this?

Oh another thing, When the Joker was first arrested
WHY DID THEY NOT CLEAN OFF THE MAKEUP??????

They did everything they could to identify him but did not want to see what he looks like with out the makeup? Didn't they take a mugshot of him?

Well, I wonder if maybe it wasn't "really" makeup. I know it was getting smeary and smudgey there for a bit, but it still may not have been make-up in the world of the film but some-kind-of other skin condition.
