10 Questions concerning The Voyage Home

Shouldn't McCoy know about the experience anyhow?

Actually, McCoy did supposedly die once - stabbed by the Black Knight while on "Shore Leave", but he was repaired by machines underground.

But he didn't go through a funeral service, burial in space, softlanding on a new planet, or have his inert body resurrected into a baby by a Genesis Wave, and have body and soul rejoined by Fal Tor Pan. To a Vulcan, that's no comparison. ;)

That's great!! :guffaw:

McCoy nearly died from some disease, but the hot babe planet cured him.
He had xenopolycythemia, which was fatal but not likely to make him drop dead on the spot. And it was ancient Fabrini medical knowledge that cured him, not Natira.

...Assuming that humans and assorted divine creatures made in Man's image go to the same afterlife (or waiting room thereof) as Vulcans, of course.

It's possible that Spock would have experience in a pointy-eared heaven only, unapplicable in McCoy's case.

I just watched "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" again and I just have one question: Where was "Commander" Chapel? I was excited to see her in the opening credits. I thought it would be cool to see this character in a movie, but then I forgot she was supposed to be in the movie, until I saw the end credits and thought, "oh yeah...where was she?". Does anyone remember?

She was in Starfleet headquarters during the storm.

She was in Starfleet headquarters during the storm.

Majel Barrett shared some scenes with Grace Lee Whitney (as Rand) and, even though their lines were basically responses to incoming emergency calls, the two actresses met together for lunch before filming and rehearsed their lines together. When they arrived for the shoot, Leonard Nimoy had already arranged for their lines to be on cue cards.

I once bought two sheets of ST IV cue cards at a charity auction and, when I got home, I recognized one set as being Majel's lines. A few years later, I met Majel Barrett at a convention in Australia and asked her to autograph the card. She was amazed to see that card again, now so far from LA!

Dr Chapel had another scene (with Sarek) that was cut for time, but it does appear in the ST IV comic adaptation and the shooting script. She is escorting Sarek into Kirk's trial, and telling him he's just in time.

10.Uhura and Chekov are at the Enterprise. Scotty, Sulu, and McCoy are getting plexiglass. Who beams aboard Spock when Kirk and Gillian drop him off? Was it Maltz?

Maybe Spock used his communicator and activated the transporter remotley? I don't know if they could do this, though.

There's an app for that!
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
