Charlie Jade

I may have missed an episode when they shifted to the 3 AM spot. I managed to DVR June 24's episode, though, making three I've seen.

The only truly bad thing is the narration. It has uniformly not matched the action on screen. Now, I've heard of unreliable narrators, but as they've varied the narrator each time, it's making everyone unreliable. Why care, then? I'm already trying to ignore the narrator.

The slow pace is deliberate, because a lot of the show is about the visual style. It's not as cliched as Painkiller Jane's unbearable twaddle. Plus, the setting is far more interesting, just because it's foreign. But the visuals never make a story for me. I'll try it once more, but nothing yet has really gotten me to invest in the series.

about the guys that nabbed Reena . . . I thought one of them was Sew Sew Tukars . . . and that's why Charlie was extra interested in that alley when he thought he saw them . . . I dunno . . .

01 really creeps me out, which is cool . . .

what's the Jasmine-look-alike's name? I wonder if she and Charlie will become involved . . .

nah Tukars isn't one of them.

I think it's "Paula" but i'm not 100% sure.

Im not tellin' ;)

I missed the third episode, should I keep going or will I be to lost already? I really like the show, but if I'm not going to be able to follow it now I don't want to waste my time trying to figure it out. If someone wants to either summerize it for me or point me to a summary that works for me.

There's a pretty good recap done by RA Porter at Popcritic.
Episode 3

Pretty much summarizes the episode. It is a good read if you're a little lost.

:bolian:Thank you.
ETA: I really wish Sci-Fi hadn't moved it, or that they had at least given us some sort of warning that it was going to happen. Because this is just damned annoying.

:techman:Turns out I did get it after all. So now I don't have to worry about the rest of the episodes anymore.

I just watched another episode (The Power of Suggestion). I am HOOKED on this show! I am..hang on a minute, let me think of a snappy name...a "Jade-coat". :techman:

(hey, FF has Browncoats, that's the best I could think of for this show. )

Or we've become "Jaded". Crap, I need to get watching this when I'm done here. I'm just glad there are other people on here who likes it.

That's a good one, but it has too many negative overtones. I'm going with 'Jadecoats' myself. :)

And I admit one of the saddest things I have ever seen in sci-fi is in this last episode, where Charlie goes to see Elliot Krogg's girlfriend in the hospital. She just sits there, her mind (possibly) permanently damaged by all those drugs the Vex-Cor goons gave her, and then she grips his hand. :( I thought it was pretty funny, though, that she was able to get the entire Vex-Cor board of directors (in Betaverse) arrested.

That being said, I also still think that Julius Galt is the coolest villain (if indeed he is one, which I'm not sure of yet) I have seen. He rocks! :techman:

Also, I'll say it again: I.LOVE.THE.MUSIC.

And I'm glad we got to see more of Gammaverse this time. It was interesting to see how people in Gamma treated the people who died in the explosion as glorious martyrs to the cause, and all that. Perhaps Gammaverse isn't as happy joy-joy as we thought? :vulcan:

One question: Who were all those people that gate-crashed Krogg's funeral and were kicking his corpse and all that?

who was it that grabbed Reena before the feds got there?

I like how different Alpha is from Betaverse, and how Charlie views the technology :D
I like his little device thingy that was able to unlock that car

Who's Julius Galt? Is he someone new from this weeks episode?

he was the guy who came in and woke up 01 . . . this show is definitely difficult to get into, but I'm totally into it :D

it doesn't do much exposition, so you have to really pay attention, but I like it

Julius Galt is the CEO of the Betaverse Branch of Vex Cor.
He's going to be one of the main-ish characters of the show.

Ah, so he was the guy that 01 was reporting to in the office in the third episode then.
