So I got and XBOX. Now what?

There's a new patching coming for Vegas 2 that will fix all the Terrorist Hunt problems.
Anyway, if you're interested in the online features at all, well... most of the player base has migrated to Vegas 2 anyway.

Use it and enjoy it while you can before it red-rings on you.

Too bad the 360 doesn't have a web browser that the OP can use to troll message board threads that clearly aren't of interest to them!

I don't think there's anyone remotely interested in video games who doesn't know about the 360's reliability issues. That said, the 360's game library dwarfs the PS3 in terms of actual, honest to goodness video games which is what the OP was asking about, not hardware reliability.

^The "keep it cool" advice stands, though.

Another piece of advice. Rock Band vs Guitar Hero. If you get either, get a Guitar Hero guitar and not a Rock Band one. Guitar Hero guitars are compatible with both games, Rock Band guitars are only compatible with Rock Band.

Except the thing is that, for me anyway, the GH/Red Octane guitars flair up my carpal tunnel while the Rock Band guitars don't.
It's primarily the thickness of the guitar neck that is the problem.

I think game libaries mean nothing and hardware reliability means everything when there's a chance your system will suddenly not work anymore forcing you to ship it off and be without it for a couple of weeks while it gets repaired/replaced. Atleast for next few months (?) while the issue is still under MS' warranty.

I was in the true next-gen console market a couple months ago and went with the PS3 because it doesn't have the reliability issue and, well, because of Blue Ray.

360s purchased today still have a three-year warranty on them unless I somehow missed the press release saying otherwise.

Go create a thread on the reliability of a system you don't own instead of threadcrapping in a thread where someone is asking about the games.

Sorry. Didn't realize I need your permission to post in a thread. I'll endeavour to do better next time.

Thanks!

Just to give you a comparison that might make it clearer, your post is exactly the same as someone who posts stuff like "Dude, wrestling is fake and you're an idiot for watching it" in a pro wrestling thread or suggests buying a Mac in a thread about Windows software. No difference whatsoever.

I'm well aware of the RRoD issues on XBOX and the MS warranty and if I recall it's not what I asked about in my OP.

Well to be fair, I had the exact same reaction that Trekker had when I read the "Now what" in the title of the thread. So I plead mea culpa too.

Seriously I hope you don't have the same experience that me and ALL of my co-workers who have 360's have had.

As for games you can play, IMHO you've already got the best game they ever made, and that would be COD4. If you like GTA, I'd give Saints Row a look. Sure, it's a ripoff of GTA, but but it's a well done knock-off and in some ways, I found it more fun than GTA4.

I've been struggling to finish GTA4--the game's just become a chore rather than continued to be fun as it was early on. I'm at about 45% complete but have read the game can be completed around 60% which is probably where I'll wind up given the missions I've done (in the options screen).

^ Yeh am on a break from GTA 4 and I noticed Saints Row but with no demo I doubt I will play it though I hope the 2nd one will have one.

You are exactly right, the final third or quarter of the missions were exactly that, a chore, and not really that much fun. I finally got fed up in the last few missions and started using cheat codes just so I could finish the storyline.

Fair enough. But out of the more than 20 people I know that own the console only one has had the RRoD.

There's a Saints Row 2 trailer that basically, and perhaps literally, shits on GTA4.

As for RRoD, I've had one. I'm sure they were pretty close to a recall, considering they were willing to eat a billion dollars in order to save the brand.

You know, we all pretty much agree that GTA is a great franchise, but I'm thinking if the guys that make Saints Row would take their basica game (which is basically a ripoff of GTA) and just tweak a few things, they could actually make a better game.

For example, make a real replay system that works, i.e. allow you to save at any point. And eliminate some of the drawn out and unnecessary BORING car chases and/or long drives to the mssion (Think "Three Leafed Clover" from GTA4) and they could have an absolutely amazing game.

But that's just my $0.02.

^ Oh come on! I just loved driving for 5 minutes, shooting people for another 10 and then missing the jump and having to do it all over again for the final mission! :)

This isn't a good time to buy a 360, the price is about to drop (basically confirmed by advanced copies of Sunday ads) and there are rumors that the 20GB model is going to be replaced by a 60GB model.

Well it's a bit too late for that now. ;)
