Best I could come up with was "someone who works for a living". Cus, you know, it's an NCO rank pin.

Anyone ever noticed that I increase the rate as my TrekBBS rank goes up? There are fewer enlisted rates than TrekBBS ranks, so it's not a 1:1 thing, but my first avatar was the Able Seaman pin.

Since the board is predominantly male and your posts are all getting read in my internal male voice anyway, I generally just assume everyone's male unless it's obvious or until proven otherwise. A few surprises in here but I knew a lot of them already.

Why do you think its appropriate to smear your faith all over this totally secular thread as a monkey might smear its poo on the glass of its zoo enclosure, or hang it by the wayside for all to see like some gaudy billboard? What does it have to do with being male or female?

I'm not attacking it, I'm questioning its application in this case. I was hoping for a similarly pithy response, but if you're going to take everything so seriously I'll do just that.

Maybe you guys have a history I'm unaware of. If so, please realize that I'm unaware of it.

People in this thread are finding all kinds of different ways of expressing whether they're male or female. TLS did so in a way that's important to him. It affirms his belief (and mine too) that God makes us the way we are. Psalm 139:13 - "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb."

I completely understand that a large portion of the membership here chooses not to believe that God created them. But I don't see that as any reason for attacking someone for expressing that belief how and when he chooses. People say things on this board all the time that I vehemently disagree with. I make it a practice (current post excepted) of not derailing other people's threads by calling them out for it. It's an element of free speech that we can express ourselves how and when we choose, and nothing that TLS said was remotely offensive or could be in any way construed as an attack on someone else. I find it totally inappropriate for this simple expression of his faith to be compared to a smear of excrement.
