I'll watch the Wire if you'll watch Dexter.
And Grey's Anatomy as a fixture for Best Drama? The Emmys has always been schizo. The awards that actually get this stuff right are the ones given out by the unions - writers know how to judge other writers, directors know how to judge other directors, etc.

Thank the maker somebody else thinks so. I'm serious. Who decided Patrick Dempsey is attractive? He's not even cute. Add to that the fact that his character is a perfect douche, which the narrative never acknowledges, and it's why Grey's makes me want to retch.
I always ended up catching the last two or three minutes of Grey's Anatomy before Lost. It felt like two or three hours. Just a bunch of annoying bastards forever whining about their lives and manufactured problems. Is it wrong for me to hope they do a storyline where the medical staff is taken over the characters are tied up and executed gangland style?
Greys/Sopranos crossover!
I could also go for a Greys/Dexter crossover.
Dexter would execute Dr. McDreamy on general principle, just for being an asshole.
I loved the ER episode a while back, where Patrick Dempsey guest starred as a doctor who likes to spend a lot of time in the bathroom "pleasing" himself. The intern turns to Neela and says, "Yeah, we call him McCreamy."

So, I'm all for Glenn Close winning best actress on Damages now. She's awesome. Wouldn't be surprised if Ted Danson got a nod too.
Drama: Dexter
Comedy: The Office or 30 Rock
I really liked Lost this season, but Dexter was just damn addictive. As for comedy, I thought both The Office and 30 Rock had great seasons. I haven't seen Entourage's fourth season, though (and I love that show). Normally I'd go with Curb because I worship me some Larry David, but this past season was so-so.
Grey's isn't that bad. I have to say, none of the guys on the show do it for me personally, and I hated McDreamy initially. I started watching in season two, when he kind of was a douche. Then I went back and watched season one and saw why people liked him. Say what you will about the show and the genre, but the writing on the show is really good. The writers' ability to weave 5-6 different subplots into a cohesive show and tie them together with one theme is impressive. I wouldn't give it Best Drama this season--it finished well, like House did, but like House, what came before the end wasn't the strongest stuff.

I wish that Henry Ian Cusick had gotten nominated as well since he certainly deserved it.
But a big part of the nominations are about the actor having lots of experience in the industry which Cusick lacks. Looking at wiki Cusick has only done a couple of tv movies and made a few episode apperances on several tv shows. Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson are the biggest vertern actors on Lost so they have the best shot (also very deserved) at winning the supporting emmy. It's not really fair but that's how the Emmys work.
Glenn Close and Michael C. Hall need to win in their respective categories. That would be a scary picture of them together.

Despite this strong field (Supporting Drama Actor is always the strongest field, isn't it?) I'd say Emerson has this one walking away.
...but I reiterate the amazement that Henry Ian Cusak isn't on that list. Too many Losties again?
