Chris Noth leaving L&O: CI. :(

Damn. I thought Mike Logan was cool. I hope there's no lingering bad blood between him and Dick Wolf.

What I'm really ambivalent about, is Noth's replacement...get ready for this one:

Jeff Goldblum.

Linky

Also, SVU fans take note of Diane Neal's replacement: Michaela McManus.

I have absolutely no idea who she is, but I will miss Casey Novak.

Interesting... I don't think I've seen Goldblum play a detective since way back on Stephen Cannell's Tenspeed and Brownshoe with Ben Vereen. His casting suggests that they might be going for another quirky detective like Goren.

The season finale's this weekend, right? And it's a Logan episode. I wonder if there will be any setup for this.

Well, damn, Chris Noth is leaving again? Mike Logan remains my favorite Law & Order detective. I was still hoping for a crossover with Special Victims Unit and be reunited with his old captain. Hell, a crossover with the original series would have been cool, too.

However, I LOVE Jeff Goldblum and thought he was great on Raines (and still pissed at NBC for not giving it even half a chance).

Somehow I doubt that, unless Noth knew quite sometime ago that he was going to leave.

Well, I am willing to give any new addition to the Law and Order family a shot!

Go Goldbloom! I didn't like Raines too much...
I am sorry Noth is leaving again... Maybe he'll show up on SVU in a couple of years

As for Michaela... she's cute! I think Casey was hotter, but she'll do!

I'm sorry to see Noth leaving; when I do catch CI, nine times out of ten it's because it's a Noth episode. (D'Onofrio is great, but Goren just annoys the shit out of me half the time.)

Still, Goldblum is a solid replacement. I think I was the only other person in America besides Emh who watched Raines, though maybe Dick Wolf makes three. ;)

Hmmm... I guess I'm done watching CI now.

I read somewhere that Renee Zellweger personally picked him to star opposite her in a movie, so maybe that movie career that he never actively sought is finally coming to him (as opposed to someone like David Caruso who bit the hand that fed him to prematurely pursue a film career).

I saw the first two episodes of Raines. Mostly to catch the Fearless from Boomtown cameo though. Goldblum did an awesome job and I'll be highly anticipating his arrival on L&O!

Goldblum played a detective/cop just last year for NBC on the short-lived Raines.

Sorry to see Noth leave though.

I wonder if Goldblum is actually playing Raines here? (That show *was* on NBC, after all.)
I doubt that considering the supernatural implications. Yeah, he could be just losing his mind, but even the mere suggestion is too much for Law & Order (yes, I remember the Martin Short episode).

Really? Was it Fearless himself, or just Mykelti Williamson in another role?

(He's not listed in the "Raines" credits on IMDB. Which episode was it?)

It's actually Fearless. It's in the pilot episode, I don't remember which. Raines gets a call from a Detective Bobby Smith on the phone, and he goes to the scene of the crime and Fearless himself is there on the scene for a brief cameo.

I miss Boomtown. :(

Yeah, but I didn't see it. ;) I saw an earlier post mention Raines and I couldn't recall whether that was a detective show or not, which is why I limited my observation to what I'd actually seen him in.

I can't say I'll miss Noth's Logan(I'm more of a Goren Fan) but I was one of the few Raines fans so I'm hoping he'll be playing atleast a Raines type character..now I'm wondering is Julianne Nicholson's Wheeler still going to be on as his partner?

Logan did basically the same thing in one CI episode. After this woman he was seeing (who lived in his apartment building) killed herself, there's a scene where he imagines he's talking to her.

They would be paying Graham Yost out the wazoo to use his character.

Who appeared in all of seven episodes. I doubt it would be THAT expensive, especially since they did manage to land Jeff Goldblum in the first place.

Besides, crossovers like this aren't unheard of, in or out of L&O. Look at all the John Munch references in 6 or 7 different series. Also: Did anyone catch the "In Plain Sight" one? And that's from a series that's *still going on*.

It doesn't matter how many episodes he appeared in during the brief run of Raines. HSingle crossovers are not that expensive, but imagine having to pay royalties for every episode the character appeared in. It's the reason Nick Locarno changed to Tom Paris on Voyager, and why T'Pol is not T'Pau.
