In the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, First Contact, and even DS9's big fleet episodes, it seemed as if Star Fleet could must a pretty big fleet if it needed too, especially DS9's sacrafice of angels/What you leave behind...

Had one Borg cube attacked TOS Earth, could Kirk and his era-peers even have put up a flight? Especially since there were only 12 starships? I mean, Kirk is good and all that. But he and Spock would have had to work some serious magic to stop one cube from getting to Earth..

There were only 12 Constitution class starships, but there had to be a dozen or so other classes. I find it impossible that Starfleet of TOS only had twelve ships! Kirk said there were only 12 ships like his...but that can mean anything.

The Original Series and the Borg are two things that shall never be mentioned in the same sentence, except to say "I'm glad there were no Borg in the Original Series" or "Anyone who tries to shoehorn the Borg into the Original Series should have his pancreas fed to rats."

I don't like the Borg; I never watch any Trek spinoff episodes with the Borg; I'm glad there's no Borg in TOS.

It depends. We have absolutely no idea what level the Borg were at in the 23rd Century. They could have been vastly inferior to the Feds at that time for all we know.

Beyond TNG the Borg were ruined as characters, I would not watch any attempt to retcon them into TOS canon.

That episode of Enterprise was awful enough as it was. How a starship that's pre-"we just got away with it"-TNG just got away with it is beyond me.

Kirk would have singlehandedly defeated the Borg. He'd have shown the Borg Queen her own reflection on the bottom of a metallic pie pan -- introducing her to the concept of beauty. Then he'd introduce several Borg drones to Fizzbin, causing the collective to destroy itself in a cascade of illogic.

Finally, he'd teach the Borg Queen about the Touching of Lips. Oh la la.

THAT should have been the TOS/TNG movie crossover instead of "Generations."

No chance in hell Kirks got!!!
I am sorry but the Borg would of owned them:borg:
The Federation at that time was hardly a match for the Romulan Star Empire or The Klingons for that matter, and The borg assilmilate technology from all across the galaxy and other galaxies, The Federation would have boon no match. Captain Kirk would have been no match, what the hell was he going to do meet a drone on a planet and clobber it with a stick?

The Borg worked quite well in Enterprise, an even earlier time than TOS. I could imagine some vestiges of them could have survived to trouble Kirk and Co. And yes, I am sure the writers would have found a way for them to at least avoid destruction.

Assuming that Enterprise is the only ship in range again, a battle would be suizide.

There are only two options:

Kirk is seducing the Borg Queen and ends up showing her how human procreation works. She is so overwhelmed by that newly found individualism that she immediately frees all Borg from the hive.

OR

Kirk is going to discuss the Borg to death, just like he did with Nomad and some other artificial beings. The Borg end up blowing themselves up because their existance is illogical.

Based on what evidence?
Tos, St6arfleet was still young it didn't have many ship. The federation consisted of Vulcans, Starfleet and few others (not much compared to two might empires) If The Romulans and Klingons were fighting along side the federation then yes they could kick some borg ass. Anyways this is assuming Starfleet would have help from the rest of the federation which is not 100%.

In Tng the first borg encounter, Picard and his ship (which was way beyond anything in tos era) couldn't take down one cube, hell he came close causing the assimilation of his whole crew.

The Borg in TOS would have overwhelmed the Feds. However, Kirk and the Enterprise crew and ship would survive and be on the run. A couple of civilian Fed ships would align with Enterprise. The highest ranking Federation civvie would be an attractive school teacher. She and Kirk would butt heads every week. Another twist the Borg have undercover drones, some of them even think they're human.... Original huh?:rommie:
