Voyager fleet...?

I assume it's just semantics, something the writers found to be correct but maybe not what Paris would instinctively say. Putting a 'the' in front makes it impersonal maybe? It seems they always say, "back on Voyager" or whatever and never "The Voyager"

And yet, for other ships, they always call it the Enterprise, the Prometheus, the Equinox, etc.
Which is why they wrote "The Voyager" in that episode. But it was early in the show, and they hadn't ironed out everything yet. They probably just decided that "the Voyager" sounds awkward (which it does) and so dropped the "the."

Has Voyager ever seperated from it's saucer? I saw them do that in TNG.

Voyager was Much much much smaller. 600 meters shorter than the 1701 D with a crew compliment 850 souls smaller.

Voyager might as well have been a rowboat compared to what Enterprise could have brought tot he party.

It's doable.
Voyager can run with half of it's crew (70 crew-members), and even then I think the only SF personnel that would be on other ships could be in command positions or as part of the engineering crews that would help out in sharing of technologies and resources.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned (haven't read the entire thread) but in The 37s Chakotay says Voyager can't be run with less than 100 crewmembers.

Oh the good old days.

Janeway ran the ship with just the main seven because she had to for months in Year of Hell, and then Seven did it all by herself for long enough to spaz out. After the 37s, they probably spent a while thinking about how to automate the hell out of Voyager to cope with the incumbent unexpected crew losses their way of life would invariably bring.

Besides, Janeway could bring on new crew or make new crew if she get to close to that line of 100 people mentioned ni the 37s.

Janeway is too fraking stingy with the promotions to crew new ships in her personal armada that she'd have friction issues in field promoting Captains out of her command crew... And then what does she make of herself? Fleet Captain? Commodore? Admiral?

If Janeway came home and they told her to put back on her Captains pips again before she's imprisoned for impersonating a superior officer... There'd be hell to pay. And that's not even counting the Maquis and Tom that Starfleet would honor their Janeway blessed new "ranks" that they'd even have the half hearted respect of the rest of the fleet as they matriculated back into the Starfleet regular.

Besides, if she made Kim a Captain... I don't think he could handle the necessary imposed frugality of the promotion track on whatever ship he was given, after his own piss poor petered climb to mediocrity that he'd be handing out promotions to his crew until quite quick enough every last former crewman out ranked him significantly within the first month.

Mommy issues.

And then there's Seven, Neelix and the Doctor to consider who would all think they deserve their own ships and the according ranks to Captain them... Although I can see the Doctor on a Holographic ship with a Holographic crew... Until some female humanesque crewman transfers over because she's been crushing on him for years...

And the saucer the Enterprise D is obviously a saucer. So two questions. Where is the cup and where is the tea?

Yeah Voyager is a coke spoon...What would Seven's ship be like? Organized? No holodecks, no windows, all uniforms are cat suits.
