Dear Hollywood

Capricorn One is, at least partially, responsible for sticking all this faked Moon landing nonsense in people's heads so we really could do without a remake.

There are worse things Hollywood could do. How about a remake of The Graduate or Casablanca?

See, doesn't seem so bad now.

Oh the conspiracy theories definitely predate the movie. The movie was just playing off them.

I remember a recent rumor about Madonna wanting to remake Casablanca.

I refuse to see it.

Unless she plays Major Strasser.

^She wants to play Rick

Hells no! Here's the lineup:

Rick: Adam Sandler
Ilsa: Jessica Alba
Victor Lazlo: Matthew McConaughey
Sam: Martin Lawrence
Renault: Sasha Baron Cohen, doeeng zee Franch ak-ZENT
Ferrari: Kristie Alley, but only if she loses some weight
Ugarte: Rob Schneider
Maj. Strasser: Madonna, channeling Marlene Dietricht in drag

I believe the recent fire at Universal Studios, was an attempt by the entity that is Hollywood, to commit suicide before it is degraded even more.

Dear Hollywood,

As a non-American I find most of your programming and movies to be of no interest to me. Your plot lines to a number of shows are simplistic, predictable, forumluaic and badly acted by your so called 'big stars'. Your standards of attractiveness are our of whack and your propping up of the paparatizi for your own self-serving ends just floods the mainstream media with useless information in the misguided impression that it is newsworthy.

I feel as a whole, Hollywood (as an industry) has gotten lazy, petulant, and with decreasing quality of their product has become a place where people with marginal talent, addictions and less creativity than a bowl of sour cream make more money in a year than most people will see in their entire lives.

The vertically integrated studio system is jus a way of trying to force brand loyalty down the throats of your customers, while doing your damndest to make sure that anytime anyone even thinks about your product, you'd love to charge them for it. I sincerely hope that the fat cats in charge of the studio, and the whiny drug addled celebrities crying "poor little me" all are tragic victims of karma.

I said most of their stuff :) to be honest I'm watching most of my TV these days from UK sources and my movie watching has dropped dramatically in the past 5 years from what it was. I just can't find myself enjoying more than a tiny fraction of what they're producing these days.

Most of the "stuff" we think of as Hollywood - Iron Man, Indy, et al - are specifically designed to appeal to global audiences (that's the reason for the predominance of action over verbiage, for instance; a lot of the audience can't understand English and subtitles are a pain).

All you have to do is look at boxofficemojo to see how the big-name movies like Indy, Pirates of the Carribbean etc do versus the little but good quality movies like Juno - the traditional Hollywood stuff routinely is over 50% non-American now, while the Junos have to survive on a largely American audience.

Maybe Hollywood doesn't appeal to you, but that's not because you're "non-American," which is what I was clarifying. There's no guarantee that any individual person will like any of that stuff. Hey, I just saw the critically panned The Fall and LOVED it!

Would you settle for a prequel TV series starring David Soul? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084994/
