"Sex and the City" Not BBS-worthy?

I find it incredibly amusing (and revealing) that no thread for Sex and the City: The Movie has been started yet.

In NYC, it was THE topic of conversation last week prior to its premiere.

Yet, nothing about "knocking Indy" out of the box office top, or how some posters hate "ultimate chick flicks", etc.

I don't care, frankly, I just thought it would be a topic by now.

Incidentally, I gave it **1/2 out of four on the air. Nice cast, well shot, but just pretty tired in its premise. What was "naughty and edgy" back in the late 1990's just ISN'T anymore. Still, mildly fun entertainment.

(And a GREAT movie to girlwatch at! And man, do they check solo guys out as well.) :)

That seemed to be the only redeeming quality in the theater where I saw Indy 4 this past weekend...tons of women in line waiting for their showing of Sex and the City. The gender ratio at the bars must've been massively screwed up this weekend.

I guess not being a board populated by 35 year-old women living in 2001 means something.

;)

I watched the show and enjoyed seeing the gang back together on the big screen, and that includes the whole cast, not just the four ladies. And yeah, I was also wondering why there was no thread on either the movie or how it beat out Indiana Jones.

Nobody cares? I dunno.

Yay for it beating Indy, but it's not like they came out at the same time. Indy's in its second week.

I was a casual viewer of the show and don't really care to see the movie until it hits DVD or cable. But I was wondering why there were no threads for it by now.

I saw it. I enjoyed the TV show, and the movie was mildly entertaining, as pointed out before. It was probably the best TV to movie translation I've ever seen -- it kept the atmosphere of the TV show without feeling overly episodic. It had a theatrical feeling about it. It had resolution. So I liked it.

I've never been in a theater with so much women before, though. I'll tell you that.

So it's about three hookers and their mother?

Pretty much.

My general view of the television show from seeing small bits and pieces is that it's about four women who sit around gossiping about this week's man a lot. Somehow, talking about nothing but men and shoes makes them liberated women of the 2000's. They appear to have very large, over designed offices at their workplaces but do little actual work to earn the money that they spend on generally ridiculous outfits and yet more shoes. And at least one of them is a size queen.

So, the only reason I can think of for a straight single man to go see this movie is in the vain hope of meeting single women. These men have sold out.

Men with girlfriends and wives, however, who went to see this movie with their partners had better have gotten something in return. And by something I mean that thing they always wanted to do but their partner thought was perverted.

I lucked out, my gal did not want to see this movie at all.

What is this ridiculous thing of going with your wife or gf to the movies and vice versa. You don't wanna see the movie don't go. It's hardly a social event as you don't talk to one another.

I agree, but there seems to be this age old idea that going to "romantic" movies somehow means something to women.
