Locke will definately be back next season because we have to see him on the Island and stuff.

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

Another disappointment: after journeying down in an elevator for five minutes into the deep bowels of the earth... we find the Orchid... one tiny little room, basically. I was expecting something huge and epic, like the Tempest was.

So here's my take on the Orchid: their teleportation chamber was up against the "exotic matter" pocket, harnessing its emanations to do their experiment. Just like a microwave, Ben stuck some metal in there to screw it up just to blow a hole into the cave.

The cave is the pre-existing ancient Native ruins where they harnessed the same pocket to move the Island as need be. So it's just like the cave Ben used to summon Cerebus. And the Four-Toed Statue.

Sigh. It's now been TWO YEARS since we were introduced to the Statue, and the fact that there was an ancient historic advanced culture there. And we still haven't learned anything about them.

Also? We didn't get to see the Temple, even though it was first mentioned one year ago!

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

Well we saw more confirmation of the ancient culture (and I didn't even think of it until you said it!) via the writing on the ruins. For LOST that is a reference to the four toed statue.

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

I give this episode an excellent. I was surprised to see the Frozen Donkey Wheel actually be a frozen donkey wheel. Speaking of the frozen cold chamber Ben was in, I was thinking that my prediction I posted a few weeks ago may turn out to be right: the island will now be in a cold climate. I hope I'm right as that would be a crazy and cool (pardon the pun) change to the show.;)

The biggest surprise of the show was Desmond surviving through it all. I thought for sure he was going to drown and I was ready to throw something at the TV for what would have been 3 predictable deaths, but instead it was just 2 predictable deaths so I'm happy. But are they really "dead"? I think not. I also think that Locke will be resurrected whenever he gets returned to the island.

Speaking of which, how do you think the show will continue next season? Will the Oceanic 6 get back to the island in the first couple of episodes and the story will continue from there? Or will the story continue right after the island disappears? I think both options are possible. If the story continues in Season 5 with them all returned to the island, the years we skipped over could be the flashbacks. On the other hand, if the show continues right after the island is moved, the Oceanic 6 trying to find the island will most likely be the flashforwards.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy! This is going to be awesome! I can't freaking wait! I'm mostly spoiler free so I'm ready to be shocked with the most amazing finale ever!
Oh yeah and guess what I found out...
It turns out the "frozen donkey wheel" is actually a frozen donkey wheel! They go down into the Orchid and there's this donkey frozen midstep in the donkey wheel. Ben busts out a flamethrower and melts the ice and gets the donkey moving again. Suddenly, the Island disappears in a puff of smoke and reappears on the surface of one of the lesser moons of Endor. Many yub yubs are heard and there is great rejoicing for some reason....

:eek:Talk about crazy!
Holy. Fucking. Shit. You weren't joking! Well, except for the Star Wars bit.

:guffaw:

To be fair to that1guy, we don't really know where the island moved to. Endor is as good a guess as any ;)

As to the Season Five format:

We've basically already seen the important events of the Oceanic Six's three years. So I think that the "present" time will be Three Years Later, showing the O6's efforts to return to the Island. Meanwhile the "flashbacks" will show Island events of the past three years. Then the S5 Finale will be the O6 arriving at the Island. And S6 will be them doing whatever they have to do on the Island.

Plus Sayid, Jin, and Sun have never even MENTIONED that statue, at least not on-screen. Based on the fact that our Losties very rarely share information with each other, I'm guessing they're still the only 3 people who even know about, outside of the Others.

That would be cool, but I'd prefer that they get back to the island sometime in the first couple of episodes in Season 5 and then most of Season 5 will be with them on the island. Having a whole season dedicated to the Oceanic 6 returning to the island almost sounds like a retread of this season, except in this season they were trying to get off the island.

We may learn more about the statue next season as it looks like Richard Alpert will be playing a major role, and he knows all.

By the way did everyone notice the commercial announcing the new Lost Experience game? Ocatagon Global Research? At first I thought it was a coincidence, but then it said "paid for by ABC.com".

Yes. There's a whole thread on it. ;)

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

Oh yeah I had to laugh when Ben told Locke to go hook up with Richard, he'll make him leader and give him all the answers. Remember back one whole year ago when Ben told Locke he would give him all the answers? Didn't learn much, did we?

I think the worst secret not yet revealed so far is that we don't even know what the Others CALL THEMSELVES. Is that really such a huge deal? Like Juliet wouldn't know this?

So anyway I predict Locke may become the leader, but we the viewers won't learn much of anything. If Locke does learn anything, it will be an unseen event and Locke will become the new mysterious all knowing leader like Ben.

I agree spending an entire season just getting them back sounds really drawn out. But that's what the show is all about isn't it? :p Besides, Ben said he had a "few" ideas on how to get back. This means there can be a few episodes about failed attempts that don't work. Also episodes where Widmore's soldiers are hunting them across the world and whatnot. Also episodes about them going undercover to spy on Widmore via Sun, Penny, et al. Also Sayid assassin episodes. Etc.

I agree that your Season 5 idea is the most plausible considering what the writers have fed us before. The good news is that there are only 2 seasons left, so only 2 more years until we get all the answers (maybe).

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

I'm wondering how they'll do flashforwards for characters who aren't even on the island. Usually they do the noise and take a close-up shot of whoever is being focused on, which is going to be rather hard to do for the O6 who aren't anywhere near the island anymore. Maybe they'll completely re-think the show's format or something? They kind of did that already with the flashforwards, but even those we didn't see in every episode this season.

Those of us with fast internet and tabbing web browsers. ;)

I agree. The producers have said that season 4 is about how they got off the island, season 5 is about getting back onto the island, and 6 is about what happens when they get back. The present day events will follow the six as they group up again and head on back while the flashbacks are what the "very bad things are." The finale next year will be Locke coming back to life and something wacky happening shortly after.

As for this finale, I thought it was excellent, if only because Desmond and Penny's story had some closure. Of course, this means that something awful can happen to them now, as Ben's revenge story will need resolution.

Other little things I liked:
-Hints about Charlotte's past, especially her being born on the island. I don't think she's Annie--mostly because Ben shot her early on in the season--but finally she has something interesting going on with her. Man, talk about being signed onto a show and given absolutely nothing to do.
--Juliet on the beach with the rum. I feel so bad for her, every time she tries to get off the island and just can't. I think she's gonna be the victim of some of the "bad things" next year, since there's nothing between her and Jack anymore.
--Seeing Walt again briefly.
--Hurley seeing even more dead people (Mr. Eko shout out!)
--Ben fighting back tears as he turned the wheel, knowing he could never come back.
--Sawyer continuing to be the biggest hero on the show, weirdly enough.
--Sayid getting Hurley to a "safe place."
--Claire popping up unexpectedly.
--The "bloop" sound when the island disappears, funny touch.

I have tabs, but I'm also on dial-up *sob* And on Lost night, the TrekBBS, or this page at least, gets REALLY lagged!

The characters off the island will have flash forwards to when they go back to the island. Maybe there will be some flashbacks to what happened back on the island before, maybe a few events we didn't even know about. I do think the next season will be about 1.) What happens on the island under Locke, with him getting off the island and dieing at the end of next season.
2.) The 6 trying to get back to the island, with them arriving back at the end of next season.

Also next season will begin with Locke playing a record in his home back in Othertown.

Re: Lost Season Four Finale: "There's No Place Like Home, Parts II & I

I don't really know what to make of the episode. Excellent. Compelling. 9/10. Probably the best Season finale yet.

Still, whose actually dead besides Keamy and Claire?

Is Michael and Jin really dead? Don't think so somehow.

Is Locke really dead or does taking him to the island someow revive him?

Again, more questions were raised here than were answered though at least we know time travel is involved.

Anyway. Excellent episode.

The interesting thing is what is the show's endgame once the Six return to the island? We used to think it was getting off the island but that's not the case. What happens when they're back on the island? That will be Lost's ultimate endgame.
