Sexploration kirk style

If this movie is being made to attract a so called 'younger hip crowd', then they need to have a scene where our young hero, Kirk, takes a perky little skirt wearing babe to a 'quiet' part of the ship for some...well...sexploration. This would help cement Kirk's image for the new folks, and provide some much needed eye candy just incase the movie falters...

Yeah, 'cause scenes like that are de rigueur in big summer films directed at the youth demographic - the "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" movies, "Iron Man," the "Batman" films... (yawn).

Yawn all you like, but I want a scene like that because I like to see sexy girls. Make those teenager boys pop erections in the movie and they will have a positive view of the movie no matter how bad it is...

Kind of agree with Polaris on this one. They can pull in the "young, hip crowd" as long as there's enough badass 'sploshuns and gory deaths.

Though if they want to throw in a scene like Megan Fox leaning over Bumble Bee's engine compartment in Transformers, I'm okay with that.

Hell, just throw in that actual scene. Unaltered. Right in the middle of something else. I'd still be okay with that.

But I digress...

Oh..I agree..Megan Fox is hot. I saw her Maxim spread, and, well...'we' liked it alot. The best part about her, and anyone my age might know where I'm coming from..she, ummmm, how do I put this delicately...isn't into 'trimming' that much...baby!!!

Scorpio, if you want an erection, why not run by the store and pick up a magazine or something.

Or go to one of the thousands of websites out there which exist specifically for that purpose - to help you to make junior a happy boy.

Personally, I don't think that is Star Trek's responsibility.

It's also not how these kinds of movies make money and attract a young audience.

Which is not to say that there aren't genres of successful commercial films that are based very much on a combination of such sexual content and broad comedy. They're never in nearly the budget range of Abrams' Trek or most other summer blockbusters, and they very rarely perform well enough at the box office to justify blockbuster budgets.

I'm also an old guy, but not so old that I need to pay eight bucks for a movie or a magazine to "entertain junior" - hell, I can sit outside Starbucks for twenty minutes on any warm day and just watch the pedestrian traffic.

Oh..sure it is JJ's job to pump young teenage boy's chubbies. IT SELLS. And JJ ABRAMS is no different that GR. He knows that sex sells...so trust me, and you know I'm right, there will be some kind of scene with young Kirk and some hot blond chic...that scene does two things, actually three..it sets up Kirk's image as a babe chaser...it allows there to be a romantic scene for the girls in the audience..and, third, it might pop me a...well...you know what I mean..

Wish I'd said that.

Well, sorry to point the obvious, but movies are made with that kind of formula in mind. And since this movie will be aimed at teenage boys, it will and MUST have some kind of sex formula. Sorry if I have made you blush, or maybe even aroused you, but I am only stating the obvious.

I think there's supposed to be an Orion slave girl in this movie (but I may be mistaken)...

See what I mean, M'sharak and Pktrekgirl and Mr.MIssle? Alboborg sees what I am trying to say...and wow, I can't wait for a modern version of an Orion slave girl...at least there are SOME of us on this board who haven't become brainwashed by the PC crowd...

And you've missed the point, which is that there's almost no evidence to support your claim that this is a significant selling point to young audiences buying tickets to a summer blockbuster and a great deal of evidence to the contrary. Just saying over and over "sex sells" without qualification doesn't overwhelm the facts. The studios have made billions of dollars in the last thirty years by targeting teens and young adults with big-budgeted films in which romance - much less sex - is little better than an afterthought.

Abrams doesn't need "sexploitation" to sell millions of tickets to this film. There's no evidence that it's a particularly smart way to go.

I really suspect that middle-aged men obsess a lot more over purchasing entertainment to "pump their chubbies" than teen boys do - the kids need a lot less vicarious help in that department.

In all fairness, if Abrams is serious about "honoring the spirit of TOS" as has been said by many of the players involved in Trek XI, then there's a good chance that it will be a helluva lot less PC than TNG (and to a lesser extent other Modern Trek). That's fine by me as long as it is somehow related to the story (all Megan Fox jokes aside).

Aside from the fact that "PC" is mainly a stupid code word for "having to display some manners and not liking that," if this thing really "honors the spirit of TOS" the most you're going to get is some short skirts and a little smooching with none-too-direct references to sex that mainly even avoid the word.

Welcome back to the "non-PC" 1960s when a lot of the stuff shown in the "PC" TNG wouldn't have been allowed on the NBC network.

I doubt they'll be quite that literal. But if they are going to honor these characters, Jim Kirk is a womanizer. I have no problem with Trek XI showing us that aspect of his character, because it's part of who he is. What I don't want is for the Trek XI writers to castrate him in the interest of "displaying some manners".

I hate that ugly color of green they used in that Enterprise episodes. The green that was used for the one in "The Cage" was much better. There was another TOS episode with an Orion that had my favorite shade of green, but I can't think of the title now.

"Whom Gods Destroy", perhaps?
